Sending a scope to Burris for reticule swap?

Has anyone had this done through Burris? I bought a used 6-24X44 Burris Signature Select with the "plex" reticule and I am considering shipping it to them to swap out the reticule. I noticed after receiving it that the elevation dial that has the elevation marks on it moves independently of the actual turret. The windage turret is ok though. So I am debating... I need to send it to them to repair the turret, should I go ahead and have them install a target dot reticule ($60 to change reticule).

My other thought is to just have it repaired and then sell it and put the money I would have spent on the target dot along with the funds from the sale of the Burris and purchase a 6-24x Leupold with a dot.

The Burris is nice, but it has the Stoney Point target turrets instead of factory turrets. I can also have Burris install target turrets for an additional $80.

I'd have $440 into the scope after the changes, and if I sell the Stoney Point target turrets that would knock that down a small amount.

One thing about the Burris is that it only focuses (is that a word?) down to 50 yards (from 50yds on up to 600yds). I think the AO is intended for centerfire.

I'm kind of thinking out loud. I'm going to give it a trial on Sunday in a match. B-)

Without going into a long answer, sell the Burris to a hunter that will shoot it a t a fixed distance and get a Leupold.

Sent the Burris scope in for warranty repair. Once it is returned and I verify that it is fixed I think I will be selling it and putting the money towards a Leupold.

Thank you for your opinion Mary.

Are you planning on selling the Stoney Point turrets separate from the scope? If so please let me know what you are asking for them.

Sorry Bryan, I already posted them on eBay and they sold with a "buy it now" of $60.

Got the Burris scope back from Burris all fixed up. An oddity in that situation is that they put a note in the box that said they could find nothing wrong with it... strange part is that everything I needed fix was repaired. :-\ It was clear that they fixed two major failures and replaced parts, but for some reason the don't want to acknowledge that anything was wrong. Oh well.

Sold it on eBay for $140 more than I paid for it. Works for me.
