Southern Nationals Logistics...

I sent in my entry fee for the smallbore portion of the Southern Nationals today and thought I'd go ahead and get started with the other logistics like a hotel, plane tickets, and a car...

Not so fast, though, as the two recommended placed to stay, Best Western and Chase Suites, save they have no space during that time (arriving Thursday or Friday and leaving Sunday night or Monday). I dug out last year's program and found contact info for the Embers Inn and Ramada Limited (in Rayville), but don't see any positive recommendations for staying there. Is there a way to get on a waiting list or get a "Southern Nationals rate" if I happen to find a room? Anyone got a reservation that they aren't going to use?

For plane tickets, where the best airport to fly into and how far is it from Winnsboro? If there is more than one, what are the pro/con lists for each?

For car rentals, what companies service the airport(s) above? Any experience with them? What about car rental companies that take frequent flyer miles (that I have a lot of to burn)?

What places are there to see/eat at close that we want to get a big group together for at sometime other than the included meals?

I'm already starting to get excited. Let the planning and anticipation begin! 8)

Ok, traveling shooter Innocent... either give me more info here or PM your phone number and a good time to call. I thought I had it from the last Conard Cup match but I can't find it. :)

Hotels motels...you are on your own. It is a scramble for them every year. I camp at the range.
Flights into either Monroe LA (about 45/50 minute drive), ususally require connection from some other airport, such as Nashville, or Dallas. I fly into Jackson MS, much cheaper (usually), direct flights (which can be a help when flying with guns), and about 80-90 minute drive to range, several car rentals available at Jackson.
Food....the range, Browns Landing for local flair.
Beer...range and of course many games of move Pat Steigers tent all night long.

The hotels in Winnsboro book a year in advance by most shooters for SN, so keep looking because occasionally someone cancels. If nothing else chango bring a tent..we can survive. Look forward to seeing you there.

259...come on big city boy, you can camp with us!!LOL I promise not to do much to your corner of the range.

Little jaunts? What little jaunts, I had nothing to do with moving Pat Steigers tent, in fact I was witness to those that tried to help keep it in place by tying it down. Remember, I am innocent

Some thought tying it down was a challenge, not a deterrent. So I was told.
