Standard Rifle stock the same as Hunter?

Post by slowstdy »

I like a lot of you shoot my Mark Pharr stock 1712 in hunter and standard class. In my safe, not shot for over a year is my 54-18 in a McMillan red and white stock.
I got it out last night and the stock is all wrong, now I am used to the Pharr stock, the grip is way too big and the posistion is uncomfortable with very little cheek weld.
What do you think about dropping the 54-18 action into a Pharr stock? This would give me the feel of the hunter stock with the lighter trigger of the 54-18. And shooting it in standard class. Worth it or not?

I'd put the 54.18 into a Pharr stock, change the springs out to make it 2lbs, and just shoot that gun in hunter and standard. Then you could sell the 1712 in the custom stock and the McMillan stock and not have to lug so much crap to matches. :)

I've gone to the one gun concept and am not looking back, but I will carry a backup rifle next season after my experience in Tennessee......
