5 in a Row

I got my first 5 pin and was on the Chickens this past Sunday's Regional Match. I shoot once a week and thought this year I would be practicing to move to up to AA from A. Now, that I know 5 in a row is attainable, how about the Pigs next. The 5 pin looks nice on my hat, though, with couple other 1st and match winners. Been close to 2 twenties this year, but no cigar. Just having my first 5 pin gives me more desire. Thought I would post this for others to tell them it is just waiting for you and will make you very happy.

Congrats on your 1st 5 in a row. I know how you are feeling :D It does give you the confidence that yes you can indeed run all 5 and that helps build your overall game. I actually made it to AAA with both rifles without getting several of the 5 in a Row Pins. When you think about it you can actually make Master in Hunter and never have hit 5 in a row  So now I am working on my 10 in a rows for the Grand Slams and have several but need a couple more. Thing is they no longer give out 5 in a Row Pins to AAA class only 10's  Of course since making AAA I have hit MANY 5 in a rows on EVERYTHING since

The pressure that can build if you think about the number and in a row etc makes it very challenging. I was actually spotting for a shooter this weekend at our State match that is AA and in 12-15 years of shooting Silhouette IIRC had never got a 10 in a row. He finally got one this weekend on pigs and the tension was so thick when #10 came on deck you could feel it over the 95% humidity =)) So even the older dogs are striving for their pins and are thrilled to achieve it no matter how long it may take. Lord knows the Turkeys are trying my patience, thought I did get my 10 in a row on them in Target Air Rifle last month :ymhug:

What was so neat was I had shot the Turkeys and Rams and was doing well with 5 and 6 respectfully, for me. Next was the chickens and missed the first 4 on the bottom row. Then I said to myself, "Okay, her comes 5 in a row on the top row." I took a lot of deep breaths in between each chicken w/o even thinking how many I had knock off the stands. When it was over, I looked down range and saw all 5 missing. My mentor, with 10 pins, was 2 stations down and I had to get him. Seeing is believing. I was going to make sure he gave me my 5 pin even though on paper, during awards.

Congrats again on shooting 5 straight on Chickens. As you may recall, I shot my first 5 in a row on chickens earlier this summer. Now it looks like we'll both need to work on getting 5's on Pigs, Turkeys, & Rams. Although the way I've been shooting Turkeys lately it may be a while for me.

We had a beautiful day for a match and I enjoyed shooting with you guys (as usual). I'll look forward to seeing you at the Wisconsin State match next month if I don't make it up there sooner.

Take care!

The key is to master 1 in a row. Once you've done that it starts getting easier!

Too funny Huey!
Pat, yes, now that you mentioned it, I remember your FIVE. Boy, was I ever jealous too! Thank you for coming as often as you have for our Thursday night matches too.
Please save some trophies for the rest of us Aug 28. Looks like Dennis will be getting plaques to replace those medal awards this year. We received additional club money donation. I'm lucky if I can get 4 pigs total! This afternoon I plan to RE sight-in on the pigs, as sure is the RIFLE. :-bd
I believe this evening............... it will be 5 PIGS or the Rams like Huey. Are both, possible........SURE!!

Good shooting.......... Let us know when you get your mini-slam (that would be 5-in-a-row of each animal)

I'll bet you get 10 chickens before you get 5 turkeys.

Haha, we call it a "half-slam" here. ;)
