Why would anyone think that plan could end well? No responsible citizen on either side of the gun issue would think that selling guns to criminals in our backyard was a good idea.

When one stops to think that the DOJ/ATF/FBI are tasked with protecting society from illegal weapons, the whole operation defies rationale. They were part-and-parcel to supplying the money, the buyers, the informers, waived the NICS flags and then let the weapons go into criminal circulation... I'm not sure what else they could have to done to provide weapons directly to criminals!

One mission..... show the US guns were killing people in Mexico, to support their position earlier on this and use it to clamp down on US gun sales and add more restrictions to the US LAW ABIDING CITIZEN.

That explanation leaves me thinking "Surely they weren't
that callous, indifferent and stupid?" but I got nothin' better.

Was tequila involved?

Bob I really believe they were.... it helps them justify and support their argeement with the
UN Ban on Small Arms that our Secretary of State already signed, or agreed to, for this adminstration.
Some quotes from a wise man... (

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies.
Thomas Jefferson
I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.
Thomas Jefferson
No freeman shall be debarred the use of arms.
Thomas Jefferson
The republican is the only form of government which is not eternally at open or secret war with the rights of mankind.
Thomas Jefferson
When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. When the government fears the people, there is liberty.

Why would you think otherwise Bob? Isn't the first rule in the liberal playbook that there are only rules to hold your opposition accountable for? Last time I checked it was Katie bar the door when when it comes to Progressives and their apparent do anything, ends justifies the means mentality. It is not like it isn't on display all the damn time.
Take this Union Longshoreman fiasco out west last week. You can hardly find mention of it on liberal news sites and if they do it is a short little blurb and they don't allow comments. Had this been a dozen Tea Party people it would be all over the liberal news and they would be terrorists and racists etc etc.
Don't get me wrong I have no love for the other party either at this point but to think this is not PAR for the course from the liberals is to be wearing that over sized shooting hat with the side flaps and diffusers over BOTH your lenses.

There is a huge difference between working a political agenda and getting people killed - just for starters, one is legitimate and the other is called accessory to murder. Of course there are people capable of it, but it's a hideous accusation I'm reluctant to make of anyone.
Accepting a conclusion because it's the only one we see can blind us to what really happened, and that would cause us to solve the wrong problem. Conspiracy can be a complicated explanation for stupidity - maybe I'm just reluctant to give them that much credit.

We should all keep in mind that this is the same Eric Holder that was blowing in Janet Reno's ear to send in the tanks at Waco... for the children. As far as heavenly retribution goes, he has nothing to lose...

The whole purpose was to get the gun laws in the US tightened up. Just look at their edict about gun sales in the border states, about reporting multiple gun purchases.

This will be the first time I've ever quoted myself but Pink Polka-Dotted Jesus... (emphasis added below)

I mean seriously, while my commentary was "slightly tongue-in-cheek", you have to ask yourself, just really what was left to do but pull the friggin' trigger???
