Super cool pictures. Funny to see all that green and folks wearing short sleeves 1 day before I head out to snowboard (we got 9 inches last night at crystal mtn).
This sure makes me want to mosey on down to LA in the near future.
Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for posting these, Dustin. Also great shooting, especially when dealing with running the match. I've just taken over our local monthly smallbore silhouette matches and my scores have dropped considerably. How do you keep your head straight for shooting when you're running a match?

Bigfoot, what are you waiting for? Come for the Air Rifle Nationals next year; or better yet, come for the smallbore state championship in June, the highpower state championship in October, the cowboy state championship in November/December AND the Air Rifle Nationals next March!

Jason, it's HARD to do. I have a GREAT spotter (Jerry Tureau) who works with me every week at local matches and knows me very well and knows how to keep me focused; he is the biggest reason that I was able to switch gears and focus. Also, I had a lot of help with this match, this was a complete club effort and a lot of our guys and girls took a lot of the pressure off of me (THANKS to Jerry, Daniel Archibald, Joe DuBoulay, Patrice Kunzli, my wonderful wife Whitney, and our match director Richard Harper!) Another thing is that I'm used to moving around a lot at matches; I hate sitting still so I try to spot a lot and paint/reset targets when I'm not shooting and I think that helps when I have a lot going on when running a match.
All that said, I was COMPLETELY whipped and worn out on Saturday after getting very little sleep on thursday and friday nights and shooting on friday. I was very streaky shooting on Saturday during the Open match. Thankfully, Whitney is smarter than me and forced me to go to bed early on Saturday night and I was able to come to the match rested today for the Target match and able to be consistant with my shots (and Jerry was AWESOME behind the spotting scope on a VERY VERY windy day.)
I hope that helps. We all try to work together to share the load at our local matches so no one person is stuck with everything. We keep everything very simple and all about the shooting so it's more relaxing than stressful. Your shooters up there are lucky to have you running the matches; I'm sure you put a lot of effort into it and make it great. Be careful not to burn yourself out though. If it is too stressful for you and you cant focus on your shooting, it will frustrate you. I'm sure the shooters would rather have very well-run matches run by you for the next 20 years than excellently-run matches by you until you burn out in 2 years! Dont forget about YOURSELF!!

I'll bet you all had a great time at the match. It looks like some of the guys are shooting spring guns. Is there an equipment list that let's us know what everyone was shooting?

Those pictures are from the sporter match, so everyone had to shoot a spring gun. The VAST majority were Air Arms TX200s.

I KNEW someone was going to ask that question! Unfortunately, we did not poll the competitors for equipment but I will post something in the Air Rifle section asking the competitors to list their equipment and everyone else's equipment that they know of.

Thanks for the info. I didn't realize that spring guns were required in that class.

Jason, don't let Dustin fool you. He is not really human. He is a machine.
This event would not have happened without his dogged determination that it should and would happen. I have tremendous respect and admiration for him for 1. being able to pull this off, and 2. for shooting as well as he did while pulling it off. Our club is very lucky that he decided to shoot rifle silhouette.
Thanks Dustin for a great match.
