Low Attedance

This weekend past we had a club monthly High Power match scheduled. It was sunny 70+ a little breeze. I had 4 target setters and 30 targets at each range. TWO guys showed up! TWO! WTF .....I had guys go to Columbia to shoot a club small bore match rather than shoot HP...... :(( Next year I won't have an April match...the club will take it away from silhouette. So we can bitch about our sport but it seems to me that support is woefully lacking.....In my state the outstate boys won't come to my range because we're considered a 'city' range...Holy stump jumpers Batman! I've got the 2nd finest range in the country and TWO guys show? I'm going to IDPA :ymtongue:

Are people having trouble getting components where you are? Where I am, powder and bullets are in short supply...... not a Sierra MtKing in miles upon miles..... and Varget? Just a memory...... maybe your low attendance is because people can't load up for the match.

I know my problem with attending matches is my work schedual I have alternating weekends and my work week end is when most of the matches are shot...so I have to wait til they fall in synk to travel to them next big problem is finding reloading componants to feed the HP gun and the lack of 22lr ammo.....thats whats keeping me out from the shooting right now. The distance to the matches is not as big a problem now since I moved to greenwood from miami...I have riverbend gun club at 4 hours Gateway at 3 hours Baton rouge at a little under 5 hours.

Hard to accept that when rimfire ammo is equally scarce and these guys are shooting that....no one has whined about being out of components...even the Sierra boys no showed...but they work 3 shifts 6 days a week...I understand work but come on /:) If components were an issue explain how IDPA draws 50 shooters at our club monthly....50!!!! Try and find pistol components......And you don't hardly get a thanks for attending there and the competitors tear down the range afterwards....so guys with $2000+ rifles are what lame? or tight asses? Hard to accept

Do people not know how to use the Internet? I just bought 1500 6.5 mm bullets and it took me about 15 minutes to find them on the Internet. I even compared prices!

I hate to hear that the locals up there have that incredible range and don't use it.

The IDPA stuff is popular because it's easy. People can go out there and shoot fast and get good scores with their eyes closed. It's part of the "everybody wins " society we live in today.

I should probably withdraw that. I've only tried it once. I found it to be easier than silhouette. I really don't know what I'm talking about. I guess it's the fast shooting that people like. One of our shooters always says that the combat style shooting sports are great except that they miss the little fact that in real combat there are people shooting back at you. That tends to change the game.

Whatever you do with your local match, keep having your regional in August. I can't wait to come back up there and shoot without my scope falling apart in the middle of the match!

IMO Silhoutte is the hardest shooting game there is .

I love silhouette...watching heavy metal fall from the crushing blow of a high power rifle'''wow what a rush" , Yes its hard ..that's what makes it big bang big clang,,,yee haw!!! What fun loving kid wouldn't not dig on that? If your Testosterone is low then shoot something else but if you love fun and good folks and can take ribbing then silhouette is the game...I mean we have our own Guru :ymapplause: Silhouette is hard so is benchrest (600 yd), and Across the course mid range, etc....but ours is the best

Yes Sir Snake The Colorado crowd and myself have already made plans to clutter up your range for the regional again. From what I hear the easiest shot in all of the shooting events is a straight away bird on station 3 trap and the hardest one is a HP Turkey.

I remember my first ever HP silhoutte match ever (SB too for that matter) anyway I was like 36 or 7 (2002 I think) and the first animal I fired upon in a match was a ram and I got him !!! felt like a little kid with a new toy again :D
