Jim that won't 'officially' come out from the NRA till thier meeting in October. I do know that Ridgway said they were tentatively given the 2015 Nationals, but then were told it was up in the air as the NRA wanted to hold all National Championship events in Raton. In talking to the guys back east they told me that they were told that the date and where is still up in the air.

Greg and Laura said at this years Nationals they want two locations, but the Exec's wanted them in Raton, we'll have to wait and see who wins the battle.

Oh boy here we go again...Raton..Ridgeway....Ridgeway...Raton.....repeat....repeat....Wish for something diffrent allready. Not that these places are bad. But I miss the variety... all you older silhouette shooter understand what I mean. When we had various locations it was exciting.

I have to be honest, I live only 3.5 hours away from Raton so having it there every year works out nicely for me. I can not say I would be upset if it was held there every year.

I also realize I am in the minority and I would not be happy if it was always held at Ridgeway.

The current alternating location seems to be an excellent compromise.v

A few other people brought that up at the competitors meeting as well Jim, as they needed to put theirs in well in advance as well. Not much understanding on Greg's part as it has to go through a few committees before it's finalized and it sounded like they didn't have much input to speed it up.

This brings up some questions. How many ranges in the CONUS have 10 or more banks of animals available that would qualify that range to hold the NRA Nationals? The second question is how many of those ranges have a low enough temperature and humidity in the middle of the summer(when the kids are out of school to travel, shoot and volunteer) that it will not cause old folks like us to have heat stroke? We live in the Deep South but we prefer not to shoot a match here during the summer because it is just too hot and humid to have fun. Please reply if your range has at least 10 banks of animals and Summer temperatures/humidity that will not kill the competitors.

Not just the ten banks, but also the availability to host sb and hp at the same range the same week.

10 banks
HP and SB
Moderate temperatures and humidity that old people can handle without heat stroke.
Obviously, running water and flush toilets on the ranges are not required. Whitington does not have them.
CONUS
What other ranges besides Whittington and Ridgway have these essentials to hold the Nationals?

Shucks with the puny turn out...I could even have the Nationals if we shoot one 40 per day. They need 10 bays because the insist on resets after 5....dumb. and I have real toilets, air conditioning in the club house and a very nice facility

To me it's a week long get away from work doing one of my favorite things in life. I love the outdoors and especially the wide open spaces of New Mexico, Raton's one of my favorite places.

Ok, No replies to the question of how many ranges in the continental United States have the structural features that the NRA requires and Summer temperatures/humidity that we can survive. I am guessing Ridgway and Raton must be the only two ranges that can hold the Nationals. Me too, kevinbear, Silhouette in general is a great "escape" from the mundane work place.

At nationals this year at the competitors meeting someone asked point blank if nationals could be hosted anywhere with less than 10 banks and Greg said he would not even consider the application and would throw it out. Then Dustin said something like 'so it could only be held at Raton and Ridgeway?' Greg said to the best of his knowledge yes.

Until Greg is moved out that's how it will be. Basically we are waiting for the vultures before we can move forward. *shrug*

My experience running matches tells me that Greg Connor is NOT the problem; no matter what anybody states on the forum. I get the feeling Greg is just the guy caught in the middle between the competitors and somebody or some executive NRA committee in the NRA Competitive Division. About 12 years ago Chicken George gave me some good advice. Chicken told me that running Silhouette matches is like volunteering at Church or for some event in your community. No matter how hard you try to please everybody, be fair to everyone and do the job you volunteered for, somebody will be mad at you before it is over.
