I want to be the first to go "On The Record" and give this young man a big pat on the back! He just started this sport 1 year ago and is making HUGE strides.

He shot a 60/80 on Sunday at FL. That may not seem like much to some, but here is the "metal' Scores

Gold = 65/80 (Cathy W.)
Silver = 63/80 (Bill 'no tell')
Bronze = 61/80 (Mr. Lawton)

He tied MANY of the masters with his 60/80 for 1st master with his score.

I would have PAID for the extra point needed to get him in a shoot off with TL. Win / Loose not the point, just the experience.

I saw him nail down 8/10 Turkeys on a relay where many were having trouble with the pigs due to the conditions.

My hat is off to him!

And his mom is HOT too..... :lol: How lucky can a coach/spotter be? Kolby will be traveling with me to shoot in PeEll in a couple of weeks, then Winsboro, and the Nationals in Raton. Of course, Arkansas in the fall....Our sport needs this infusion of new, young shooters. Young people in this sport that may be reading this post, as well as parents of young shooters should take note. Get out and shoot. Have fun. You'll never know what's possible until you try.

As an aside, in recognition of his accomplishment in Florida, local TV station KFSM TV5 has named Kolby "Athlete of the week", a series that features outstanding young people involved in sports in the area. They'll be conducting an interview with Kolby at the OFGC range on April 24th and will air not only the interview in a special sports segment but are going to use some of the still shots of Kolby in their promotion of the series. I think that this is huge, not just because it's Kolby, but a local TV station that will name a competitive shooter as Athelete of the week as well as air what will be a very pro-shooting sports feature has to be great for all of the shooting community.

Congrats Kolby

John,

To add to your comments, we need positive news at a time like this following the VA Tech tragedy.

Kolby,

A word of advice from an old war dawg:

Be polite, be kind, and be respectful.......but have a plan to whip them all.

Thanks for the advice,Dawg. The truth is that I shoot for fun and not to beat anyone. A challenge makes me focus more and try harder on each individual animal.

Bye for now I am off to the range.

Well Done Kolby !

cheers,

'Hot Moms' are good for the Sport,
and should be encouraged to participate, or even just sit around looking 'Hot' !
Maybe we should have a 'bring a Hot Mom' day ?
My money's on Mary ! Always hot down Florida !

Sean,
Thanks for the compliments. I do know that Winny can be hotter than Florida, and I also know that I would not win any wet T'shirt contests, unless you ruled out some of the shooters that are not mothers as well.

Kolby, You'll love the range at PeEll, very protected, and fun to shoot. But as far as ruling your mother off limits, she is old enough to be your mother, and I think she can make her own decisions!!!

Could it be Ms. Mary has her own mind?

Mary is trying to distract the rest of us on the shooting line, watch out this may be a new strategy.

Kevin,
"New strategy"???? This is an old trick I've seen used many times in position shooting, especially with the young shooters. Doesn't work on the old fogeys anyway, they are jsut too glad to be at the range.
