Jerry Tureau Spring Classic May 8

Post by atomicbrh »

SHORT NOTICE!

BONUS PRIZES!

Sorry to shout but the wife and I have decided to do something special next Saturday at our regular Jackson, MS. monthly Match because we have had tremendous interest expressed at the last minute in this Match.

The Match will be held this Saturday May 8, 2010 at Magnolia Rifle and Pistol Club in Jackson, MS. During the growing season I do not have much time to gather prizes or cook. So we have to do something simple.
Regular entry fee of ten dollars for adults and five dollars for Juniors. Regular $5 prize for winner of Smallbore and winner of Hunter Rifle divisions. Then the Air Rifle Divisions to follow after Smallbore.

After Air Rifle whoever hit the most animals in a total aggregate of Air RIfle and Smallbore will receive an aggregate prize of $50.

After Air Rifle all scorecards will be thrown in a box and a name will be drawn out to win $100.

So it is possible to leave the Saturday Match with $160 total if you win everything including the general drawing.

You do not have to be present at the end of these events to win. You can just shoot one division Air or Smallbore if you do not have much time Saturday but your name will only go in the hat one time for the $100 drawing.

If you shoot the highest aggregate of the five divisions(rifle and air) and only shoot one or two rifle divisions you still win the $50.

We are naming this Match the JERRY TUREAU SPRING CLASSIC. Jerry was one of the first people who helped us get into this game and has been one of the driving forces behind Rifle Silhouette in Louisiana and Mississippi. He has cooked tons of jambayla and worked hard hauling a totally portable range setup to each one of his local matches. Jerry will be at the Match and draw the winning scorecard out for the big prize.

For Hotel information, directions and more information e-mail me.

Come have a good time next Saturday with Jerry and the Huddleston family.

Ce's bon is how I think the people in Louisiana say it.

Thanks,
Bobby R. Huddleston

Jeaux DoubleA and I were planning to attend, sounds like a good time. How many classes of airguns do you shoot? We were thinking about SB and I had no idea about the air after.

Daniel, We shoot all three Air Rifle classes(Sporter, Target, and Open) on Carol Scioneaux targets. After the Smallbore targets are picked up we have a short lunch break. Most people bring their lunch or run through one of the drivethru fast food places nearby and bring it back to the range to eat together.

We hand you three blank scorecards after the lunch break and you put the class on them you are shooting. You can shoot them in any order you wish.

The Air Rifle Match is NRA approved and NRA range commands and rules will apply. Your Air scores will go in your books. Smallbore is very structured as far as you are assigned your starting firing points and relay number. We honor squadding requests when you arrive.

Please put your addresses on the scorecards also this Match. So that if you win a prize and you cannot stay for the final ceremony we can send you a Money Order.

Also, Juniors are concerned about Amateur eligibilty we will buy the Junior a Educational Savings Bond and mail it to them.

This will be a one day event, an enlarged Monthly Match with usual monthly Match fees

Thanks,
Bobby R. Huddleston

One quick question. Is Jerry Tureau eligible for the "Jerry Tureau Spring Classic Awards"?

The doctors have just started me on a new drug to help my condition. Currently it only gives me an upset stomach and leaves me extremely fatigued. If I get adjusted in time, I will try to make your match. Cannot speak for Pops, yet. Will email you by Thursday to let you know.

Bobby,

Just spoke to Pops(He's in Zwolle playing around). Apparently I committed to boil Crawfish for a Mother's Day celebration on Saturday. Sorry we won't be able to make it. Hope you have a beautiful day to shoot.

Don't let Joe DuBoulay sandbag. He needs one more leg to make Master in Standard Rifle.

Yes, Jerry is eligible to shoot in the Match named after him. How can you stop Jerry from shooting? Shooting for Jerry is as natural as breathing for most other folks. Yes, do not forget Mother and Grandmother on Sunday Mother's Day the day after this Match.

Sorry for the interference with the Mother's Day weekend but this Saturday Match just fell into place.

By the way I did not mean to imply in my original post that Jerry was the only person who puts a lot of effort out to promote this sport. Do something to honor the "Jerrys" in your local area. Name a Match, an award or something after them. Let them know you appreciate what they do while we still can.

Just got back from checking out the range for tomorrow's Jerry Tureau Classic Smallbore and Air Rifle Match in Jackson, MS. The range has just been cut. Thanks go out to the Womack family for zero turning the range. Everything looks great. Hopefully the front that is supposed to be going through right now will never develop.

For those visiting our facility for the first time, we will be at the end of the paved range road where the festive red and green flagging decorate the range.

Hope to see you there!
Thanks,
Bobby R. Huddleston

Thanks go out to Bobby and family for the match this past Saturday. 5 matches in one day is a bit of an iron man competition, but it does help build stamina. I had a great time and do plan to return to another match when time and schedule allows.

Yes Bobby I had a great time at your match and the weather ended up being very nice. Thanks to you and the little lady for putting it all together. Jeaux and I were saying on the way home you should hold this match every May before Winnie as a nice warmup match, we both agreed we will be trying to get to at least one of your yearly matches. For those who have never been to Bobby's match you are missing a really nice match and range.

Oh and for anyone who questions whether the South is actually capable of rising again go spend a Saturday out at that range  I have seen a lot of people at a range before but I don't think I have heard so much ammo being burned as I did Sat. I think one shooter was sighting in his black powder CANNON from the shock wave concussion that was felt across the range

Thanks again Bobby.

No kidding about the firepower that was on display at the Magnolia range last weekend Dee. I don't know if it was because it was Mother's day weekend or not, but now I can understand why there are shortages of good reloading components all around. I think the price of lead and copper went up this week on the commodities exchanges.
