SOLD. High-end Custom Sil. Rifle
Specs:
1. The action is Kimber, totally chromed and fitted for tight tolerances.
2. Barrel: Lothar Walther custom stainless steel barrel, installed and pillar bedded by Wayne Merrier. If you're unfamiliar with Lothar Walther barrels, maybe Google the company and find out the very top quality they are.
3. Trigger: Polished trigger with new custom made wide trigger shoe. Breaks like glass at 2.2 pounds.
4. Receiver, bolt, and handle: All finished in polished industrial chrome.
Two stocks:
5. Mark Pharr pillar bedded stock: completely finished in striking Ferrari Red gel coat.
6. Kimber factory stock: stripped and gel coated in same red gel coat. Drop in ready.
7. Two sets of custom mounts. A single piece by Marvin Pearson (currently installed-- see photos) and a two piece (Weaver style) custom mount by Wayne Merrier.
7. Six industrial chrome finished Kimber magazines.
Condition:
All metal 99%. I guess "used, as new" would be a good description.
Gel coat: virtually "new" from 36" away. Very close up, minor surface handling scratches are visible, which is typical for a highly polished gel coat in a solid color. All in all, from a few feet away, it shows "as new". The finish could be polished like a fine auto finish, if desired.
Accuracy:
When built, Wayne Merrier reported it was one of the best guns he ever shot. (I have a separate photo of test targets).
It outshoots 3 match Anschutz rifles (2- 1710s + an 1808) I've owned, as well as my pet, an original Kimber SuperAmerica,.
Only standard velocity ammo used (Eley and Lapua).
Bolt lock up and fit are all incredibly tight.
Overall:
Has seen very little use. Maybe 500 rounds? I'm 70, and have never competed with the rifle. In fact, I've never actually shot competition Silhouette at all. I've had a Leupold 6.5x20 mounted on it and have been a "critter shooter", for my own enjoyment, in my back yard, shooting chickens. The whole ideas has been owning a top level shooter for the pride and enjoyment of ownership. I have arthritis now and am willing to part with it.
Pricing:
$2500 has been invested in the making of this exceptionally well made and accurate rifle.
Selling price: $1750.

Very nice. Is it a left handed stock? It looks like it has a cheek pad on the right side.

I am the original owner of this rifle and everything described is correct. I do regret selling it. If this had been posted a month ago I would have bought it back but now I'm into a Finnfire project. Dang it.
