For silhouette rifles with the comb at the maximum height allowed by the rules, you can't get a cleaning rod past the comb to clean the barrel from the breech if the action is glued into the stock.

I was thinking mostly for the benchrest rifles. I doubt that any benefit from gluing over proper bedding could be extracted from silhouette shooting.

Getting around the comb of a silhouette stock isn't too bad though.

Sorry the late great I was referring to was Darrel Barnes absolute perfectionist in shooting and smithing. Bill and I traded about 5 years ideas and experimental plans during the indoor nationals a few years ago we both had 40X actions in our hands trying to make them as easy to feed as the Swindlehurst Allen Hall came by and invited all of us to his motel room that nite for brainstorming. Darrel and I was first but we put in too much in time effort and tooling trying to cut on the glass hard 40X folks Bill finished his just before he died and Allen in my opinion came up with the best his action is the sweetest feeding action short of the S'hurst and more dependable because it has all that meat on top for stability. No the action screws had been loosened after the glue set. By the way if you ever get a chance to try Allen's rimfire repeater do it

Darrel was a nice guy. I briefly met him at the ARA Louisiana Indoor match earlier this year. He put a whoopin on us all.

I talked with Allan for a while at the Triple Crown. I liked him a lot. Turns out a local guy at my club used to shoot with him. Small world it is! I did not know he had a repeater action though or is that is sporter version of his action? I was under the impression most "sporters" just held a mag and didn't feed from it just to meet the sporter rules for IR.
