Re: Kitty
Hey, just getting into the homework zone. This has already been a looong semester. I'm a little worried because it makes perfect sense to me. Needs some polish before journal submission, but otherwise... Oooh, I'm in deep trouble.Evelio Mc Donald wrote:Damm Bob,
I am going to have to agree with Kolby, that last post is way above my intellectual, How many enciclopidias did you look at while writing the post???

All right Blau Bear, if it is an outlier then what are the influential points? What is the confidence level that you are working to? Yes I still have my Stats book on my desk.but was this truly outside the commonly accepted plus or minus one standard deviation of the bell curve (i.e., an outlier?)
Sorry you have to publish to a journal, I managed to avoid that requirement although it is catching up to me at work, starting to have to write reports to defend the data....You know what they say, when all else fails manipulate the data, Kolby that last statement is for you...in other words if it isn't working then manipulate to fit your needs. And if that fails then pay a Piled Higher and Deeper (PhD) to do a study on it to determine how to gix it then do nothing with the report.
Just remember the semester will be over soon.

Hmmm... Good question. The numerical distance from the rest of the population does suggest this observation may belong to a different population - perhaps a distinct sub-species? A confidence interval has not been calculated (you may have me confused with someone that loves statistics - I've known them, and they are really wrong), so this is just wild speculation.Innocent wrote:All right Blau Bear, if it is an outlier then what are the influential points? Speaking from a true statistical stand point 98% of all statistics are made-up on the spot, statistically. Given a 5% poll saturation limitations, this would account for the other 2% giving 103% overall limit, +/- 5%, statistically, of course.

I don't remember you guys being this smart before I went into the hospital.........
Here's one for the philosophical (spellin?) among you to figure out. 1st followup with Dr post hospital yesterday. Won't even consider letting me return to work for at least a month......Given the fact that I'm self employed and have several avocations as well as the vocation that feeds the family, what constitutes work??? Running a match???? Running my mouth and pushing my luck???...No wait, that's exercise......Hmmmmm

I spent too much time in the books yesterday and had some kind of meltdown that contaminated the thread due to seeing the world through statistics colored glasses. My bad. Proper authorities have been notified and PI (Pseudo-Intellectual) citations have been issued.

It helps on the turkeys to assign certain instructors names to each one, seems to relieve the stresses that come with statistics. As for Public Admin instructors, well that's a whole 'nother story, especially when every class meeting they talk about the single biggest problem for current public officials is "How to keep guns out of the hands of teenagers"....
And my CPA (current pelvic affiliation) can not figure out why I prefer to stay in the field as grunt rather than switch jobs to my degree????? Glad I'm done with the school work though.
My suggestion to you is to go to the range and burn some ammo.

Great advice! I will go Thursday evening, if not before. What we really need is an air freshener that smells like Eley primer...Innocent wrote: My suggestion to you is to go to the range and burn some ammo.

I've had academic discussions about firearm classes, but so many academics are gun phobic that it's a delicate topic. They're pretty content to believe I'm just talking about rural schools and I'm careful to let them think that.

I actually did a grant request for sponsoring youth to the Whittington Center camp for one of my assignments. Actually got an A on that one for "handling such a delicate subject so well". That instructor at least had an open mind.
You may want to look into Arizona's high school graduation requirements and the stats on that. There are some firearm training requirments in that state that should be looked into.
Dawg,
Can you teach me how to unwhip anorexia???? Didn't used to have the anti-anorexia look until after the kid was born...does that have anything to do with it?
