Innocent writes....I have recieved an email last night with a quote from Mike Krei, very typical and disturbing of the NRA direction towards competitors now. .

I guess I'm chopped liver, If one they (NRA) would do me the coutesy of anserwing my one simple email. Seems like other people have a running dialogue. Good for you Mary at least we have one voice of reason.

Pete, I have not hear directly from the NRA myself, yet, just getting quotes of answers that others have received. I doubt that it will do anything but there are a number of competitive shooters running for the board, maybe they can swing some favorable changes towards the members opinions to the currently employed members of the Silhouette department...if they are elected and we express ourselves to them. I have heard similar remarks about other disciplines with regard to the arbitrary attitude of the competition department as well as the incompetence of needing to repeat the paperwork for matches.

Toad, I am the one who at the Nationals shot the "plastic Remington rifle". NO, It is not a lever gun, but try to shot one sometime. It's a little more challenging to shot than a Marlin 39A.

Here in Australia we have a discipline sub committee meeting at our nationals. Each discipline that our association shoots has it's own meeting with a representative (almost always a competitor) appointed by each State or Territory. These meetings deal with any rule changes,interpretations and general buisness associated with that discipline. The rules are renewed every 5 years on a rotating cycle for the individual disciplines. These rules go before a National Discipline Chairmans meeting ( each Discipline chairman has a vote, again all shooters), then the rules go to the National Board for approval. We have a system where through a shooters State chairman they can have input to the process. Generally I beleive that sensible, rational and well debated decisions are made by shooters for shooters. Also a protest and appeal committee is formed prior to the start of competition each day with a member from each state in attendance (usually the state chairman [except I get the Toad to take my place] ). a rimmed case loaded with a round or flat nosed bullet must be used EXCEPTION :35 REMINGTON IS ALLOWED .?? ( I SHOT A 35 AT RATON )
WHY NOT THE 308 AND OTHER RIMLESS CASES THEY MAKE THEM IN LEVER ACTION.????? YOU CAN'T USE A RIMLESS CASE BUT YOU CAN USE A PLASTIC SEMI AUTO .22 LR ????????????


as for shooting the rem i shoot several of them to death when i was shooting possum for a living great little gun no longer allowed in australia .try a 39A most accurate
22.lr lever gun made.

Ramslammer, Thanks for posting your silhouette rules. I read them and didn't see any mention of fiber optic sights. Surely this must have come up. Does that mean that aren't allowed? Just askning?

At this time Fibre optic sights are allowed here is Aus. If a competitor was to have the fibre wrapped around the barrel etc I'm sure it would be contrary to the spirit of the rules. Soon I'll have to discuss the use of fibre optic sights with or CLAS Technical Committee. We will look hard at what's happened in the NRA but none of our shooters have try to exploite the use of Fibre Optics, hopefully none of them will.
