The rules for 'hunter class' leave a lot to be desired. Just exactly is a sporting stock? It has to look like a hunter stock. WOW.

I think we should go back to the old 'heavy and light' rifle classes. If the gun makes weight, fits the jig, and has a 2 lb trigger it should be good to go as a light rifle.

The original Spodens were made from a closed cell foam of some sort and have no external shell at all. They can be worked very much like a wood stock. What I was wondering is whether reducing the grip area to something smaller would satisfy the rule (and people) as there is no point in showing up for a match just to get into a dust up over it's legality.

I think people have used the original McMillan silhouette stock as a hunter stock and its grip is larger than the Brown Precision, Nesika and Pharr stocks, but is not quite vertical and does not extend below the stock line any more than a lot of other stocks.

Any way, it was just a thought.
