A very large Thank You to all that have jumped in. Again if anyone has anything they want to pass on please bring it along. We were originally thinking of the B and A class shooters, the new shooters to help get them started and hooked, but if you donate it is your decision how your prize is given. I do plan to be there for both matches at least a day before.

Thank you for bringing up what I wanted to clarify. Several years ago Jonathon L obtained some lever rifles to be used as door prizes at the lever gun nationals, and Greg insisted upon giving them to the match winners of each gun. As most of us in the master class realize, we already have the equipment we want (usually) for these matches so some bare bones new rifles are great but I feel that the new shooters should have the same chance at winning that type of prize.
I would request that those donating specify either general door-prize or where they want the gifts to be channeled.

I will go along with whatever everybody wants to do. It would be a good idea for the newer shooters to get some nice prizes. Like Mary said all the people that have been doing this for awhile has what they need. So they would probably just sell the stuff. At our CBC match every rifle we gave away, the person is still using the rifle. The one I liked was when Mike Coleman one the Rifle. Both of his sons's where off to the side watching. When I call his name, the looks on there faces as priceless. I would like to see the same thing with these prizes. Just my opinion. How to do this, good question.

Steve, CBC probably does the best I know of spreading the prizes around, especially when you draw straws as to which class winner gets first pick of the prize table at the match.
As for the door prize rifles, your rifles are already custom built and are quite different from an in the box off the shelf Marlin lever rifle with basic sights, being awarded to someone who has already invested the money and time in his equipment and has it personalized for him/her. While lever gun is not supposed to be an equipment race, there is still significant work being done on triggers and sights and most of those winning the nationals are not shooting OTB rifles.

In the Smallbore/HP nationals to award bricks of ammo to the shooters that win the match or category only adds to their stash and does not spread the wealth. Yes, this is a "Democratic" approach but with all due respect, having more shooters go home with something from a match tends to build the spirit and have them talk it up at home and bring more people next year. I have declined the High Lady award at FL states for many years now, as I have always placed in another position, thus passing the award down to the next highest shooter. So lets spread the wealth!
