I see, thank you for the explanation.

Out of idleness mixed with curiosity I weighed a cast rimfire ram. It weighed 1lb. 7 oz or 10062.5 grains. Thus a 40 gr 22 takes on 251.56 grs of target per grain of bullet. A high power ram weighs 59lbs give or take or 413,000 grains....so a 168 gr bullet takes on 2458 grs per grain of bullet weight. Velocity, bullet construction, shape, etc are not factored....Lighter bullets take on more......So while the 22 targets are 1/5th scale...in dimension only certainly not weight. Just some fun facts

Food for thought Snake. When the wind blows real hard at the TRC range, we shoot 1 inch thick SB animals. The 1" rams still fall better than the HP rams. I don't know what they weigh but if you have a 1/4 inch ram, it is just 4 times heaver.

I shoot the 168's out of my 7BR at about 2100 and they knock the Rams down well I even shoot the 162 A-max's at about the same or a bit quicker with no issues. The speeds you will get in a 7mm08 should pose no problems.

Here is a very simple explanation of light bullet verse heavy bullet.
Take a light weight ball peen hammer and hit something as hard and fast as you can.
Then take a 3 pound hand mall or sledgehammer and hit the same item at half the speed of the ball peen hammer
Which one hits harder and would do more damage?
The ball peen hammer might work on cpt but you need the sledgehammer on the rams.
