That's the one to use, Jason. But we don't use a traditional method for reloading. My father came up with and machined a jig for reloading .22 mags about 25 years ago. I can pull a bullet and reload one in about 30 seconds.

Yep, that's the one, and yep... it's a royal PITB to get started into the case.

I had to use the base of a boat tail .224 diam bullet to open up the mouth of a case ever so slightly to where I could get it started. Also, my RCBS seater plug is designed for a pointed bullet and it either damages the nose of the FN Speer or the bullet becomes misaligned and allows it to not seat evenly/straight into the case.

It's pistol cartridge silhouette. There aren't a lot of super sleek bullets used in that game.

How did you all flare the case's mouth to get the Speer started? Also, I'm assuming you weren't crimping it after seating at all?

The jig that my Dad built keeps the bullets so well in line I just just squash them right in. Never have a problem. No case mouth flare necessary. I pull the bullets with dikes, the original crimp stays intact. After the bullet gets seated to the correct OAL on the cannelure the natural spring of the crimp snaps right back.

This Speer bullet is a wonderful bullet and the only way to go for PCCLA. I shot a 57M for about 5 years, I switched over to a Marlin Cowboy .44 Mag. The 57M was a great gun, but I just never could shoot it the way I wanted, plus the occasional dinger totally pissed me off. But, not having to reload was a beautiful thing, lol.

I tried the supermag in a match yesterday. The weather was cold and windy with temperature at or below 40 F and gusting north winds to 25mph. I had a hang-fire in that rattled me a lot so I quit shooting them. I suspect the cold temperature effects rimfire ignition, so I'll try them again when it warms up. They do hit harder and POI is about 5" higher than factory load at 100m.

Has anyone tried N-110? I figure it might be cleaner burning.

I just want to let the world know that I'm about to enter this world of rimfire-reloading with my recently acquired 57M.
Years of patient searching finally yielded a cost-effective specimen (as I'm a cheap bastard)... Wow, HP and a "real" PC lever gun both in the same month... Guess the lawn can mow itself, I'll be busy reloading.

Are you guys shooting PC lever and hunter pistol silhouette at Tacoma again yet? I was thinking of riding the motorcycle down there and bringing the Contenders that I never shoot anymore.

Not yet... I'd like to think we may have something by the end of the summer, but no holding any breath...
And anything that does open up will likely be smallbore only.

(They are adding, to the best of my knowledge, air and smallbore benchrest very soon, as well as open access to the range during the week for smallbore)

Does anyone have a crimping solution for the 22wmr? I'm thinking I could purchase Lee factory crimp die in 22 hornet and have it turned down to wmr length.
