REMINDER - WED NIGHT'S WORK PARTY
mordecai wrote:STATUS REPORT 06/20/08

This leaves the rams to be done and it looks like the plan is to finish this all up next week, Wed. June 25th @ 4pm. (They're wanting this finished for Scouts coming in as well as an annual Blackpowder match in July...)

Well folks looks like we did it!!!!! Last night about 7 of us went out to finish the "improvements" (term used loosly) on the silhouette range. got the turkeys sandbagged and the traps painted a nice shade of forest green, thanks to our own little green man Byron. He would have fit in at any punk rock show with the green oil based enamel paint in his hair, you the man B. Got the traps over the rams cut, welded, and painted. Laid down a bunch of sand and dranks some cold ones (coke) it is a gun range after all and we do want to be responsible  All we need is a couple of hours to touch up some welds and paint the traps for the pigs and we could be shooting on Sunday if it gets approved by the board(fingers crossed) and we could actually get some practice in before nationals. Oh by the way dont you just hate it you miss your final master score by just one animal :x We will keep you posted on when the matches should resume, by the looks of things it should be July 5th and again on the 13th. Back to the normal routine of things in Tacoma. :D

It was too dark again to take pictures of the progress, but Shakes has summed it up pretty well!

I would also suggest attending the July General Meeting and thanking all of the board members and others who pulled together to get this done (cause if we don't they will remember, I promise...)

The meeting went well enough.

We have about 1.5 hours of welding left on the pigs bank, etc...
I hope to get it done this week.

Stay tuned.

Great to hear. Now I need to find a way to transport my rifle on my motorcycle so I don't spend $40 to $50 in gas just to get there and back once matches start back up. :)

Ok, we got a welder out there today and finished up the pig line...
As far as we know (by this week's standards, anyway...), "phase one" is complete which should allow smallbore rifle silhouette to resume. Some board members learned of the completed work and remarked that the board will still need to approve the opening of the range (despite its repeated use by outside-club groups and muzzle-loaders to the contrary). Either way, attendance at the House-Committee meeting this Third-Tuesday at 7pm is encouraged so we can prod the committee and therefore the board to vote on the issue before August and the August matches... It is our intent to bring "phase two" material to the committee meeting as a sign that phase one is complete, so be prepared to discuss the work required to make the range "public use".

You should have let me know I was out at the members range getting some practice in, I should have stuck my nose over there. Count me in for the meeting.
