I thought the NRA was going to reply to someone on Monday. It is now Thursday. Are they just ignoring us now? Has anyone heard anything concrete yet?

Not making excuses for them, but I'm sure with the big NRA meeting / show and activities starting up this week that their tied up with that and this 2016 matter can wait till after the meeting.

I sent anothe email today. He's out of the office till 4-16. Like I said before this is a 2016 issue, we will find out soon enough.

I think the card rating thing is good. And a computer system is good. Hopefully they go to an online registration so match directors can do it all from a computer in a few minutes. One piece of this that could help is to allow the match directors to enter the NRA numbers of all of the competitors and the match format and it would spit out a printable roster and score sheet. With classes. No sandbagging, and no worrying if they moved up but don't have the latest card yet. The computer knows all!

As for the money, we shoot 7 guns (max) at every monthly match. Hope we don't have to pay 31.50 each to the NRA to do this. I'm pretty sure that would end us sending in anything to the NRA for those matches.

I'm keeping positive and I hope this all works out to be a net gain for our sport.

As far as this new system I like the current one. I think it helped set us apart from the other disciplines. Just my .02

I realize I am late to the game on this... I have been ignoring this thread till talking to several people about this today.

Like paying a lot of taxes, I supposed I should count myself as lucky to shoot as many classes and matches a month as I do. If the "rumors" on price structure so far are true I'll be paying a additional +/- $450 a year to shoot silhouette at CLUB matches. That is the $4.50@match score and $5 per classification. While I doubt I will quit over it, I certainly don't appreciate it. Seems VERY counter productive to soak money out of a already declining sport.

They tormented the pistol shooters until they decided to give them the middle finger and create IHMSA, we might end up doing the same thing. No way I'm paying 450.00 to shoot silhouette to NRA every year.
So what are we going to call the new organization......something something rifle silhouette?

Maybe we should wait for some actual details before we have the kickoff event for the revolt. I have a couple decades of experience running public-facing services or businesses and there have been a lot of messes cleaned up as part of improving those services and businesses. In many of those situations, the first thing that had to be done was organizing and standardizing things so that they could be better documented and actually improved. Am I really the only one that gets the impression that the classification change is a step toward doing that? The way I see it, we've had people complaining on here for years that the NRA doesn't do enough to promote silhouette competition and now you're complaining that they're actually paying attention to silhouette and bringing it inline with the other disciplines that they do more to promote. In this case, most of the complaints are based on nothing but pure speculation about costs.

Most successful individuals in any walk of life learn to ignore those who only complain and don't actually put thought and effort into helping improve things, as learning who to work with and who not to work with is a big part of being successful in any endeavor. How about we wait for some actual information instead of doing everything that we can to keep getting silhouette competition and silhouette shooters ignored until we actually do go away?

How about the "US Silhouette Shooters Association"? Then we can include the few pistol shooters that still shoot NRA pistol silhouette.

What a monumental task it would be to start a new organization from scratch.

Maybe we ought to wait to hear what the real plans are and only then abandon ship.
