Wow! This is welcomed news. I don't want to sound like a smartass but I did not think I would see online registration for Silhoutte National competition in my lifetime. Good job NRA.

For those that will be attending the smallbore and or highpower nationals in Ridgway in August, I wanted to let you know I am looking for some help on a new match possibility. On August 5th , which is the practice day for high power, I will be at the smallbore range looking to work with competitors on a new match for smallbore rifle. This match will be centered around an AR platform in .22cal. I will have some ammo, and an AR with me and would ask any of those that will be at nationals, that have an AR in .22cal to please bring it with you. I feel we are missing something by not having an AR platform specific match, and Dennis and I want to see if there is interest for this kind of a match down the road. So, if you will be at nationals, please bring you ideas and your AR in .22cal and lets see what we can come up with as a starting point.

What size targets at what distance are you planning to shoot for the AR game? Also, which sights are allowed? We might as well go ahead and have it available to folks at club matches too - that way we can give you some grass-roots feedback on its popularity.

Right now none of that has been determined. We definitely want to stick with the same targets that are used for smallbore rifle and smallbore hunting rifle. There is no need to use different targets when those work already for smallbore. My initial impression for this match is I want it to be as production as possible. I don't want to see this become an equipment race. I want this to come down to shooter ability more than who can spend the most money on their gun. I will create a seperate thread to discuss this on the boards as I'd like to hear what everyone thinks.

I've thought about a similar match, but I was thinking we should use open sights only, no scopes. And use the smallbore cowboy lever action targets.

Barry - thanks for getting the on-line registration capability!!! I applaud your efforts and those of others in the NRA for creating this on-line registration!
I just used it yesterday to register! This will be my first Nationals and I'm excited to attend.
I look forward to meeting you while in PA - that is if you are going to attend?

I also appreciate you registering for this forum and posting! This site is THE site for the fun and challenging sport of Silhouettes in all its forms!!!
If and when you read posts regarding the relationship between us Silhouette shooters, Match Directors and the NRA, understand the excitement we feel for this sport and the desire to get more and more people involved (that is to say hooked) in Silhouette shooting!!! Please continue to enhance the ways in which we can interact with each other and the NRA, promotion of the sport and improved systems and process that help BOTH sides of the equation: the shooters (and potential shooters) and the NRA Competitive Shooting Division.

As it seems the entire NRA Silhouette staff is at Raton for Black Powder Silhouette, the online registration is now closed. Those still wishing to attend the smallbore and high power silhouette championships at Ridgway may do so on site!! Don't let the lack of on-line registration discourage you. Let's make the 2015 matches at Ridgway successful!!

I'll be bringing a Barrett MRAD in .338 Lapua Magnum and ammo to the Varmint Benchrest range for those who'd like to play around some with this rifle, you're welcome to.
