DATE CORRECTED.
Clear your calendars and make plans now to attend the Colorado State Highpower Rifle Silhouette Championship.
Date: September 5th - 6th 2015
Where: Colorado Rifle Club in Byers, Co.
Format: Saturday 5th 2x40 with standard rifle.
Sunday 6th 2x40 with hunting rifle.
Range will be open at noon Friday 4th for practice 'till the sun sets.
Matches start each day at 9am with a lunch break in between. We can accommodate 32 shooters with four relays. A fifth relay is doable. Target setters driving our range trucks will be on duty. Our range is truly out in the middle of nowhere. The nearest town is Byers, a full 18 miles away. Only one motel in town, a less than Best Western quality affair. Restaurants only one.....a breakfast / burger joint of questionable repute. Better choices of rooms and food on Interstate 70 towards Denver available. Therefore, RV and tent style camping right at the range is strongly encouraged. Naturally you will need to supply your own food and beverage for the weekend. Maybe we can persuade Mr. Bonner to grill us up some grub Saturday afternoon. After match complimentary canned libations provided on Saturday.
This is a no frills shooting event. The reasonable entry fee of $35.00 covers all entrants. No discounts for gender, age, etc. You shoot, you pay $35.00, simple. For those that can only shoot one day the cost is $25.00. No prepay needed, either. One half of the entry fees (cash) will be awarded to class winners. No trophies, plaques or certificates of any kind. Row pins awarded as earned. Then...there are the bonus targets!
Target #8 in each bank will be worth $2.00 for a hit scored an X. Instant payout to shooter at the end of the relay. Last year I gave away $208.00. Winds were calm and my bankroll got wiped out. This will be the sixth year of the "money shot" angle, just a fun way to earn some of your entry fee back. Hopefully, the prairie winds will make the dough last a little longer this year.
Seriously though, we have a lot of fun at our state match. We have fast target resets using club labor. They work their butts off earning their mandatory work bond requirement of membership. No tipping the slaves.
OK, seriously...think about coming to Colorado this fall for a good time slamming steel. Bring your significant other or the whole family. We have mountains, quality casino gaming, Pikes Peak and the Colorado Rockies ball team. Make a shooting vacation out of your visit.
Call me, I will put your name on the list.
Did I forget anything? Just ask.
