70 shooters (not "guns?") That's a big match! Nice range, too. I want to make that one next year.
Thanks for the photos.

AJJ, I PULLED OUT MY COPY OF THE AZ STATE HP MATCH REPORT. EXACTLY 70 SHOOTERS FIRED THE HEAVY GUN & 46 FIRED THE HUNTER GUN. THIS HAS BEEN A TYPICAL NUMBER OF PEOPLE ATTENDING THIS MATCH FOR THE FEW TIMES I HAVE BEEN THERE. YES, YOU SHOULD COME OUT FOR NEXT YEARS MATCH. IF YOUR THINKING OF DRIVING,PICK UP A FEW OTHER HP SHOOTERS ALONG THE WAY TO HELP PAY FOR FUEL. THIS IS A REALLY NICE MATCH HELD IN ONE OF THE FEW HP SILHOUETTE MECCAS LEFT IN THE COUNTRY. THE FOLKS THAT RUN IT ARE THE BEST,TOO. BOB M.

Bob: Will there be somebody available to teach me how to read mirage? It'll need to be pretty quick, during first practice I'd say.

TEACHING/READING MIRAGE

AJJ, I WOULD HAVE TO SAY THE ARIZONA SHOOTERS HAVE THE MOST EXPERIENCE DEALING WITH AND READING MIRAGE CONDITIONS. WE ALL DEAL WITH MIRAGE CONDITIONS TO SOME DEGREE AT THE DIFFERENT HP RANGES AROUND THE COUNTRY. BUT THE AZ SHOOTERS LIVE IN A DESERT LIKE CLIMATE WITH BRIGHT SUNSHINE AND WARM TEMPERTURES MOST OF THE YEAR. THEY ALSO GET TO SHOOT ALL YEAR 'ROUND WHILE OTHERS HAVE TO STOP SHOOTING DURING THE WINTER MONTHS. TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION, THERE WILL BE PLENTY OF EXPERIENCED PEOPLE THERE TO GIVE YOU TIPS AND ADVICE ON MIRAGE. BOB M.

If you are wanting to shoot year round, this is the place. 1st Sunday HP in Tucson or Lever Action in Mesa. 2nd Sunday HP at Ben Avery. Saturday before the 3rd Sunday SB in Mesa. 3rd Sunday HP in Mesa or SB in Tucson. 4th Sunday SB at Ben Avery and certain times during the year Yuma shoots SB or HP. There are also a couple more Lever Action Matches that are held in Tucson or Ben Avery. If any one is in the area and wants to shoot just go to the www.riosaladosportsmans.com web site and click on HP Rifle Silhouette, that e-mail address and phone# is mine, if you have any questions about shooting around here. Jim
