Midsouth Classic has come and gone, and once again the boys from Benton came through with a stellar event. Record numbers, good weather, great competition and an even better time visiting with old friends. As usual, the Kitty Cam was out and about. Though I would share a few shots from the weekend with you good folks.

Looks like everyone had a good time! The trophy that is shown in your picture Group photo day 2, It looks like James Sererin handing a trophy to someone that I do not know, but anyway those same trophys were handed out at the Texas State Champs in 03, at the Ysleta Gun Club. They are really neat, I didn't hear anyone who won one say No I don't want mine, thats for sure! The one with the Eagle and the Flag.

Jim,
Thanks for pointing that out to me. I've corrected the captioning. You are right, everyone had a good time. At the risk of leaving out someone who should be thanked, I'll just say that Benton Gun Club made everyone feel at home, the matches ran smoothly, the weather was wonderful and the Friday night meal was excellent. As an aside, this was the 3rd leg of the Southern Trifecta, which is comprised of the Sunshine Classic (Chuck Deeson match director), the Southern Nationals (David McLemore match director) and the Mid South Classic (Frank Bray match director) Winner is the high target count for both rifles for all three matches. You have to shoot all three to be eligible to win. They tell me 28 shooters shot all three this year, which was an excellent statistic. I'd like to see that double next year, so start making your plans now. This year saw it's first repeat winner, young Matthew Deeson, last year's winner in B class, won the A class this year. Hats off to Matthew and his Dad, an excellent father/son team. And, as most of you know by now we lost Dan Healy to cancer this year. Dan was a Trifecta winner in its first year. He was a great friend to the silhouette committee and his spot on the line this year was really empty. In honor of his passing the Trifecta Committee decided to rename the Southern Trifecta to the Dan Healy Southern Trifecta. A great tribute to a great friend of the shooting community.

Thank You

I attended all 3 trifecta matches last year, and this year, and also the Nationals in Raton, and as far as I am concern anyone of the Trifecta matches are so better and superior to the Nationals, that I highly recomend any of you out there that are short on vacation time. or money, if you really want to attend a match worth every penny of your entry fee, pick any of this 3, and you will not regret it.
Thank you Benton club organizers, you did a fantastic job again.
Will be back next year for sure.
Evelio.
