How many shooters are there? I'd even include casual shooters who may only shoot a match or two a year.

All disciplines. NRA, Ihmasa, BPCR... all of it.

I would guess one thousand or less.

If every local club that runs silhouette monitored this forum, they could respond and then it could be totalled up. I have been to matches where competitors did not have access to the internet and did not know what a "forum" was. A better way to judge numbers would be if the Winsteads kept up with how many people they made vests for. A huge majority of people use their vests.

Or you atomicbrh could take that suggestion and run with it yourself. Not many people want to take on thankless jobs but your welcome to do it.

A few years back at a Smallbore National at Ridgeway I asked Mr. Greg Conner that same Question. he said the NRA
sells 3000 to 4000 books, rifle and pistol, combined per year. We have had serial numbers ranges as low as 15xx and
as high as 51xx at our club not that the it always starts at number 0001 every year. also had the NRA call me in 2017
and request any unsold complete books be returned as they had not ordered enough books for the year, this was in July,
we did not receive our books until April, my serial number in 2017 was 3491

So less then 15,000 casual to serious shooters would be a fairly safe number....
