I spoke to Leupold at SHOT show today and checked out the new VX-3HD 6.5-20x40. Great looking scope and will be available with the EFR reticle and the new 1/2 min target diamond! I was informed that they would be available by the end of the month! Now I know there will be skeptics with regards to availability but it's important to recognize that they are listening to silhouette shooters and trying to provide them with scopes that will be great for silhouette!

I also spoke to some other manufacturers about filling the void of optics for our wonderful sport! I'll be pushing hard so hopefully we can make something happen.

Good news is they have the AO instead of the side focue still on the 6.5x20x40. They have a picture of them up on their website but no prices yet

I've seen a picture of the target diamond, but what is the EFR reticle?

EFR = Extended Focus Range. Probably something like 10 mtr to infinity, rather than (say) 40 mtr to Infinity.

This is great news. While I am currently set as far as silhouette scopes go it is still great news. Does anyone know if it is built on the 30mm or 1 inch tube body?

It’s built on the 1” tube, just like the old one.

Yup, EFR with Fine Reticle and 1/2 Minuted Diamond Reticle.

I see a new style (to me), 6-20 EFR listed on a lot of vendor pages. The only specific model listed is the fine plex. None of the vendors list the 1/2 moa diamond reticle. The price seems to be consistent at 850.00 for the plex. Again I am not sure if this is the "new" model being discussed.

That is the new one, the new 6.5-40s will be their Vx3HD version, that is what you are linking to, the HD version. Once more dealers stock them we will see what the lowest price will be

Does anybody have a link to the new scope. It doesn't appear to be on the web-site yet, but perhaps there's some other information?
It was said that it "would be available by the end of the month" (January?) but sometimes these things take a little longer.
