My wife has given me the green light on my Christmas present, and I wanted to know where the best place to get a 1712 would be?
I know Neal Stepp has them for about $200 less than Champion's Choice, but I did send an email to CC asking if they'd match (since my 64MSR has their import mark on it I think it'd be cool).

Or.......oes anyone have one already in a Pharr stock they are looking to get rid of?

If I were buying new and the budget could stand it, I'd ask Evelio to get an action, true it, and drop it in a Pharr stock for me. You could also get a barrel swap, but Anschutz does a really nice job on theirs and, unless you want more length or are trying to change the balance, it seems unnecessary. But then, rational people would find the whole idea of a 1712 unnecessary...

Actually I have a note into Evelio, but I'm still feeling about. If I go the Evelio route I am thinking of colors, mabe green/black granite or an old harley davidson orange forend fade to black butt..........

I just got a 1712 from Neal. There couldn't be a nicer guy to deal with.

I recommend using the phone, that's his personal preference.

Right now, he has the most beautiful 1712 in stock that is fiddle grained from butt to tip. What struck me unusual about it was the lack of white lines in the pistol grip cap and butt plate. Seems that Anschutz dropped all white lines and the diamond in the grip cap.

I've known and dealt with Neal for well over 20 years now and email is not one of his favorite things.

There's a 1710 with 2-stage trigger for sale in the "Marketplace" forum. Cheaper than you could buy a barrelled action, and you could sell the wood stock and bottom metal to start funding a Pharr stock and custom metal.

Neal was going to be where I went if I were buying a 1712 rifle, as he has them on special for $1264.
I decided to buy once and cry once, so a 1712 barreled action is on its way from Champion's Choice to Evelio as of today. Chuck wasn't thrilled that they haven't raised the online prices yet, but he sold one to me for the online price.......
So around Christmas time I should be popping in with my own Pharr stocked beauty!!

By the way the 1710 isn't any cheaper than what the new barreled action cost from CC.

Pricewise, Neal's less expensive than CC right now for the rifle, but a touch more than CC for the barreled action.

Prices WILL be going up for 2008 on all the Annies, so if you're on the fence you should jump in now!
