1712 Magazines

Hello all:

I recently purchased a new Anschutz 1712. I previously owned an older 1712, about 10 years ago and foolishly sold it. Back then, I had 3 or 4 spare magazines that started life as Savage mags, which had been modified to work in a 1712. I bought the previous rifle used, so don't know where the Savage mags were sourced or modified.

With new 1712 magazines priced at about $75 each, I am investigating whether getting some re-worked Savage magazines is still an option, and still something other silhouette shooters commonly do.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Steve.

Yes and yes.

$40 from Brownells, a little bit of filing on the back, and you're in business.

This. Although I have no experience with these exact mags, as a general rule Triple K's su..., er, leave a lot to be desired.

Wisner still sells them direct 65-142. I just added 8 to my shooting box and they all work, just like the previous 8 I bought. Easy to file off the excess metal on the lip. I think they are 20 a pop.
