I finally made a decision...

I made up my mind a week ago and confirmed today at the Tacoma shoot what I want to do for my next gun. I need help with the details about how to go about it. First, the overall plan. I want a new 1712 barreled action bedded into a split-finger Pharr stock with any necessary bottom metal, etc, and probably rings from Marv. I'll throw an Elite 4200 with dot reticle on it and be set. I just can't see paying almost $400 more for the 5018 trigger over the one that comes in the 1712. Out of all the guns I've tried, two of the ones that felt the best were the 5018/5022 and the other two were in 1712s.

I have just now moved into AAA class in hunter and I haven't even shot a AAA score in standard yet, so this gun will shoot better than I can for a long time yet. I'm sure I can just call Marv or Mark and get this started, but I thought I'd post it here too along with a sincere thanks for all the advice I've been given. I'll probably rebarrel it eventually, but in the meantime, I am going to spend the extra money on the scope and most likely a vest from Chris Winstead.

Thanks again for all the help so far and for any advice you care to give on how to go forward (who to get the 1712 barreled action from, etc.).

you've brought a tear to me eye and a sadness to me heart as just one more of our wee children leaves the house all the more wise with a bit more ken for the askin.
ah sweet mother i'd not be happier if i'd been stuck in me eye with a sharp stick.

I supposedly have some Irish blood in me, and I still have no idea what you just typed out there, Dave. :)

Woohoo! I'm on Neal Stepp's waiting list for the 1712 barreled action. I'm sending out the deposit to Mark for a stock today. Last but not least, I ordered a vest from Chris Winstead today. Life is good! :)
