National Air Rifle Silhouette Championship for 2009 +

Don Strickland with the NRA Silhouette Rules Committee informed all the air rifle shooters at the Southern Nationals this year about having a National Championship. According to Don, Greg Connor informed him that the air rifle shooters need to make the Southern Nationals their National championship match as this match is the largest attended in the country.
If Winnsboro Gun Club hears from the shooters that you wish this to happen, we will do our best to accommodate the number of shooters that you wish to have. We have always tried to keep the entry fee low since most of the air rifle competitors shoot the smallbore portion of the match.
If the numbers prove out by January or February, we will purchase another two sets of targets if need be or get Motl to bring their sets and we will set up on the right-hand side of the smallbore range.
Please post your responses and ideas for improving the match and we will proceed.
We have also toyed with the idea of having the rules to suit everyone involved in air rifle even if they are different from the NRA rules. We want to run a match that caters to the competitors and not special interest groups or individuals with a specific agenda!

It seems i can only vote for one item!!!! Looks like i might be up for the Dumb Arss award all ready. How about adding Air Pistol as well? we can shoot at night, It will keep me away from the beer wagon LOL
40's 60's i don't care.
I might add, to me and lot's of others it is the Nationals anyway.
Does this mean i will have to work an additional day? LMAO
Southern Nationals: It's the best match in the Universe.

Limey,
We will keep it at rifles for now as we do not run these matches; however, we will do what the shooters want and try our best to keep the cost to you down. We have to remember the cost of trophies and the meals! If you want a bare-bones bullshit match, we can cut out the lunches and an evening meal; but why screw up a good thing that everyone enjoys. We probably need to do a few things better for air rifle, but we need input!

I think shooting Air rifle on the Small Bore range is a very good idea, it will be more integrated. It's nice on the Pistol range, but a little cosy.

Don't change the good stuff we have now, like the dinner, lunch, etc, I'm sure any increase in cost can be covered by a small increase in fees.

Cat,
I will have the program for you in AR. Did you get the scoring program? If not, I will bring my Apple MacBook Pro without ANY viruses and we can download you what you need.

Limey,
I'll challange you to a air pistol match at night so you will leave other competitors belongings where they belong. I'm just doing this to keep you out of trouble. What are friends for????????????????????????????

After talking with David, we decided it was probably best to use NRA rules so the score books and classifications could still be used. As for useing the east end of the smallbore range, I think it would work great for you guys, but we might have to have a delay between some relays to reset targets for smallbore practice. Any comments welcome, well Limey maybe you should hold it to a minimum

Being my 1st trip to Winnie guys its really hard to critique anything since EVERYTHING was great. The only thing I would say is more space of course but moving it to the SB line would solve that issue.
As for the costs for meals etc I wouldn't change anything to save $ as that is part of the events such as these that make them unique and sociable. Kick the entry fee up a bit if you need to, remember we shoot pellets and they are cheap
Oh gusts under 15 mph would be a plus too.
Would you still have 2 rifles on the same day if you did 2 x 40 matches? Or maybe make it a 3 day event? I am open to either 40s or a 60 or how about a single 80?

We will try to run it in two days or maybe Wednesday afternoon, Thursday all day and Friday morning if we are going to run 40 shot matches. It depends on what ya'll really want. I am all fro moving to the smallbore range! Easier to police up one area!
