How does a Savage ShortAction stand up as an entry platform?
The "Accu-trigger" at all worthy?

I am changing my Savage model11 22-250 barrel to a 260 Rem. for
silohuettes. I also added a boyd's Ross thumbhole stock. I like the
short action of the Savage. The Accutrigger is great.

The action is great, and also the trigger, but be carefull with the thumbhole stock, you can only use it on the standard class, they are illegal on the hunter class.

The Savage riflles have always been accurate out of the box. The old 110 S silhouette model was hard to beat. Only problems you had to work on the trigger.
Now with the new accu trigger and the rifle basix trigger they should be great. Only thing is there are not all the fancy bells and whistles you can get for the remingtons. But they still shoot.

I had a Savage model 110 S Silhouette rifle and it was very well thought out for the game. Granted, the factory trigger had to be worked on, but the wood was nicely grained, action glass bedded, and stock made for silhouette shooting. My only complaint was the chambering of .308 which tended to wear me out by the end of the day. The 110 S was also offered in 7/08.
