A Little Gun History Lesson

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.

China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Cambodia established gun control in 1956.. From 1975 to 1977, one million 'educated' people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated..

It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own government, a program costing Australian taxpayers more than $500 million dollars. The first year results are now in:

Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent

Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent

Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!

In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent. Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns!

It will never happen here? I bet the Aussies said that too!

While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed.

There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the ELDERLY. Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in successfully ridding Australian society of guns. The Australian experience and the other historical facts above prove it.

You won't see this data on the U.S. evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this information.

Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens.

Take note my fellow Americans, before it's too late!

The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind him of this history lesson.

During W.W.II the Japanese decided not to invade America because they knew most Americans were ARMED !

Note: Admiral Yamamoto who crafted the attack on Pearl Harbor had attended Harvard U 1919-1921 & was Naval Attache to the U.S. 1925-28. Most of our Navy was destroyed at Pearl Harbor & our Army had been deprived of funding & was ill prepared to defend the country.


It was reported that when asked why Japan did not follow up the Pearl Harbor attack with an invasion of the U.S. Mainland, his reply was that he had lived in the U.S. & knew that almost all households had guns.

As I've said in the past, the increase in gun violence probably has more to do with youngsters getting their basic firearms training from ultra-violent video games, movies and television instead of their parents or grand parents. The argument that guns are more available is irrational since guns have always been available in American homes, so that part of the equation is unchanged.

I've presented that argument to friends that want more regulation and it often leaves them thunderstruck so I follow up with the suggestion that we regulate violence in entertainment which gets a predictable, reflexive response that such a thing would violate freedom of speech. If they deserve full on jerk treatment, I'll press the argument that freedom of speech was never meant to protect simple entertainment. If they still don't get it, just keep pushing until they do.

Yes, I'm still the token liberal y'all know and love, I just don't mind annoying liberals, either. They're actually more fun 'cause some of 'em think they're intellectuals and I'm just a dumb Arkie...

Ok boys and girls bust out your copy of the Bill of Rights, like every Liberal thinks that a card carrying member of the NRA has for wallpaper! At the bottom of the left hand side of the paper there is a name: John J. Beckley, Clerk of The United States House of Representatives, that is supposed to be some distant relative of mine, but I can't verify it, he was also the First Librarian of Congress, also he was a clerk who translated big words into words that the Representatives would understand. The argument against him being a relative is that most of the Beckley's that I know struggle to put a sentence together and have trouble spelling Kat. It is good to see your name on a document like that though.

There ya' go again, dredging up family history...

"the increase in gun violence probably has more to do with youngsters" involved in gangs than it does with video games. A look at statistics shows violence decreasing in all sectors of society except the poorest.

I researched this in the 90s and met with some social workers to discuss it. The concesus was that there were two major sources of the problem, organized crime and no parental supervision. Gangs were filling the void left by the absent or nonfunctional parents and the gangs were turning the kids to violence as a way of controlling both the kids and their profits.

Isn't it nice to know that your gun rights may be endangered by politicians worried about their own lives but not willing to enforce exsisting laws requiring parents to take responsibly for raising their children?

Thanksgiving A.M. a stolen truck was driven into a gun store in Tempe and three guns were stolen, there were a bunch of high buck guns left on the walls and a knock off of something and a AK, and a cheap shotgun was taken. The store had a steel roll down cover and cement pillars out in front. Who breaks into a gun store and takes 3 guns? A robery of the same nature happened a couple of weeks earlier at a Mesa gun store!
