I did a little bit of digging on the www.whitehouse.gov web site. Our new president has spelled out in his Urban Policy, section on Crime and Law Enforcement, what he has in mind for us.....

Address Gun Violence in Cities: Obama and Biden would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent.

You gotta love the way they sugar coat a poison pill. Gun crime has gone way down since easier carry laws have been enacted. I don't understand what part of that fact is so hard to grasp.

It's one of those situations where facts don't matter, just doctrine. Part of the human condition.

Guns scare them, they see no need, so they want them gone. I just quietly make converts to shooting sports wherever possible and answer questions whenever they come up. Sometimes just staying calm in the face of it pulls their teeth. Most are surprised to hear that concealed class emphasizes disengagement and deescalation over confrontation. If they have a sense of humor, I point out the mess a shotgun would make, but know your audience before saying that...
