Does anyone own/shoot a Kimber HS?
Ive never even seen one, but have read that they are fine good shooting guns.
any ideas? pros and cons are welcomed

I don't shoot one. Three of my acquaintances have been shooting them since '04. Works for them.

I think they're fabulous rifles and several local shooters would agree with me.

They have a reputation for cold barrel fliers and some shooters report feed problems with them, but I haven't personally seen either of these. Kimber ultimately abandoned the rimfire market without consulting me or explaining themselves , but they probably got squeezed between CZ and Anschutz.

Or maybe those experimenting with 504's.............

In December 08 I bought as a new gun the second from last Kimber HS ever manufactured. I have never had a feed problem with it. On the other hand, my Anschutz 1712 regularly drops empties back into the action. The only complaint about the HS is that the magazine doesn't catch easily when inserted. I have to run my thumb over the magazine to make sure that the magazine is engaged. If the magazine is not fully engaged then it does not feed properly. It is is nuisance but I am used to it now.

I also shoot the Kimber for NRA light rifle and haven't noticed any fliers from a cold barrel. I do shoot better later into the match, but that is me and not the gun. There are three of us with Kimbers in the NRA light rifle league and I am the only one who isn't a Master.

That echoes my observations but I don't have much personal experience with the rifle.

If you can find one buy it, you wont go wrong. I own one and it got me up to AAA before i bought a custom anschutz. Four of the guys I shoot with have em and love em.

A few shooters here use them, no complaints that I have heard. I shoot two older Kimbers and love them. My only complaint....I cant shoot them to their potential.

ive read that theyre heat seated barrels.
anyone encounter a problem when replacing the barrel? is it possible without sending back to kimber?

Never saw a Kimber with an aftermarket barrel...

That said, most or all of the custom 'smiths around could probably do it. They'd grumble, but they'd get it done.

My wife has one that routinely turns in smaller groups than my 1712 but the stock configuration is such that it is more difficult to hold and shoot off-hand. That being said I've noticed that 6' + thin guys seem to gravitate towards them{longer neck?} and shoot them well.
There was a recall on the HS and I sent hers back for a new extractor, it has functioned flawlessly since then and we have no complaints with hers. If I was unable to have a 1712 it would be my next choice for a hunting rifle.

I wish I had become hooked on the Kimber HS instead of the Remington 504. My life would have been better...

And probably would have taken a lot less abuse too....

And it probably would have cost less.

where can they be found? i cant find any, how much do they go for?
