Really?

I have spoken with a few that have various ideas as to why this is happening, but from what I understand, the Nats are still up in the air, or has NRA nailed down the days for sure?

Can't afford both, and torn between the two.

There is no compairison. Southern Nats all the way. Not that Ridgeway doesn't run a great match but the prizes are worth the trip to WInnsboro, not to mention the opportunity to meet a lot more people, and do much more general harassment or just sit back and watch the entertain,ent.

Steve, two years ago i had the same problem, could only afford one. I live in PA. Ridgeway is a few hrs drive, Winnsboro is 1,350 miles away, a two day drive each way. I went to The Southern Nationals, for me the only Nationals. This year i may be lucky, i may make both, if not it will be the Southern Nationals. Hope this helps. "Oh" and this year there is a Gun and Scope door prize in every class, plus you get to shoot 5 guns (including air rifle) and BS a little, Drink Free Beer, enjoy outstanding hospitality, and eat Craw Fish out of a bucket. To be completely fare, Ridgeway has way better Ice cream. What Winnsboro needs is a Cycle/Gun/Coffee/Ice Cream Parlor.

Well, child #2 is due may third, and if I try to attend both, i may as well make the second trip a 1 way ticket!

I will check around to see what I can make work. I have heard nothing but great things about the Winnsboro match, but one more question from a west coast guy; how can it be a Southern National?

So, how did the match get then name "Southern Nationals"...? Is it referring to the Southern states as their own shooting area, and thus the match focusing on those shooters? If so, what are the states that make up this group?

South Carolina
Mississippi
Florida
Alabama
Georgia
Louisiana
Texas

Does it also include:

Virginia, Arkansas, Tennessee, and North Carolina ?

Maybe Ducky will chime in on the name, but the match is well attended from the south, southeast and northeast. It has gained traction because so many people work so hard for the entire year to pull it together and put it on. It isn't just a match, it's a well organized, high energy party. Bring cash...

Especially this year, if you only make one match, especially this year, get to the Southern Nationals!

I would have liked to attend the southern nats this year but its a no go for me as well...Have a new arrival in July...so there is always 2011...

THe Southern Nats, always has international shooters also. As for the name, Ducky had best chime in but it most likely stems from the nationals that were held there in the 90's....and yes the war of northern aggression is not over. Either way it is the match to make if you can only make one.

Heck, I'm gonna go to both this year. Looks like the wife will get the new apple widget pad thing as a bribe to allow me back in the house after the trips.
