Thanks to everyone that came out. It was a great first day, and the smallbore scores are in the books. Turnout was lighter than expected, most likely due to the forecast of hot (for western WA) temperatures of over 90. It turned out to be nice and cool with just enough breeze under the covered firing line and some good scores were shot. Here are a few shots as we prepared for the match and of the scoreboard at the end. I'll try to get more shots during the match tomorrow.

We'd also like to thank Wolf Performance Ammunition for sending out a few prizes for both door prize drawings and prizes for winners. Tomorrow we'll have more Wolf items, as well as the coveted Steel Chickens hats!

Congratulations on your great shooting Jason, your score would have tied for MW at Raton last week. You have to make plans for attending the Nationals next year.
For the first time the NRA gave money to the 1st three places in every match including the three gun aggregate, hopefully they will continue doing that since Cowboy Lever Action is drawing the largest participation of any of the silhouette disciplines.

Thanks, Tony. I really shouldn't have missed the chicken in the afternoon match. I started on pigs and got excited when I cleaned rams and finished my smallbore cowboy grand slam, as the rams are all I have needed for that for over two years now. I totally lost focus and struggled through chickens after that. I'm really surpised that I got nine of them. Conditions, including lighting, were as close to perfect as I've seen for a cowboy match this afternoon, and it shows in the scores everyone put, not just me. :)

My apologies to the two who sent me PMs and everyone else. It was hotter today than yesterday and I haven't spent enough time in my non-air conditioned computer room to edit photos and post them. I'll try to get it done tomorrow evening. Until then, you'll just have to wait for the scores, unless Mordecai or Byron happen along to end the suspense. 8)

I'm going off memory but I believe Jason put in an honorable 147/160 for MW...
Mr. Kevin did 129? for 1st AAA/M
Mr. Mordecai did 120? for 2nd AAA/M
I know Byron had a pretty good score when he kept his extra "10 points" :))

As promised, here are pictures and scores. It was even hotter yesterday than it was Saturday, to the point that some news shows were encouraging people to "avoid all outdoor activity" for the whole day. We still had some intrepid shooters come out and hammer the steel targets. It did indeed get hot by the afternoon match, but wasn't at all unpleasant under the cover of the firing line. Our all-star target setter, Tim, bore the brunt of the heat and Mordecai's son, Jack, helped out with target setting duties. Without further adieu, here are pictures before and after the match, as well as awards.

Thanks again to John, Kevin, and others for running the match and to everyone who braved the heat to come out and shoot. Just a reminder that we won't be having our monthly silhouette matches in September and October due to hosting hunter sight-in on the weekends for the public. We'll be back at it on November 20 for cowboy/hunter pistol matches and November 21 for smallbore standard/hunter rifle matches.

It was something to do with showing off on a boogie board trying to impress some bikini babes or something. I'll let him tell the story, as I'm sure it would be funnier that way. =))

Had a wonderful time at Seaside Or. with my two boys and great wife! The boys were having a great time with the skim boards on the beach so I gave it a try.
I twisted my knee, destroyed my ankle and broke by Fibula. The pain was near the top of the scale. Six weeks in a cast and I will be like new, or maybe like old.

Byron

P.S. I finished 4th in the rimfire match.

Yo Byron...you need to take lessons on skimboarding from a pro, granted I haven't been dumb enough to try riding in about 8 years...too much freshly pumped in sand on the beach, that is not packed enough for good riding.
