Has anyone used the TUBB Final finish bore polishing? If so what were the end results? Better / worse? Why did you use this product? I don't have a bore scope to ck the bore.
Any thoughts on this welcome !!
Thanx again

Depends on the bore, You can tell how smooth yours is by how easy it cleans. My rimfire Anschutz Silhouette and Smallbore Prone Rifles and Douglas barreled single shot's wipe clean with only a few passes of a oily patch. Not going to use any aftermarket products in them. Factory barrels may well benefit. Marlin 39A's I use JB and need it to come clean. They may well be improved by a bore treatment.

Baby Huey....stick to learning the position and the enviromental stuff first....you add too much technical stuff right off and you will miss so much.
BTW my first vest was royal blue and grey...second one was multi colored becasue Chris didn't have time to get enough leather to finish it before I needed it for a match. It is red, blue, grey, purple....really nice and still my favorite for "fashion".

Thanks for the vest info, but as hammy can tell you I live for all these little odd upgrades(potentialy).

It was a question to see if anyone used the stuff. I shoot more than just custom or semi custom rifles that could well benifit from some of the new "fashion" that is out there. Wanted to know how some others benifitted or not from the product. Besides David Tubb has been shooting for a LONG time with every title known in High power sitting on his shelf !!

Not to be rude at all though..still learning everyday...if not it was a wasted day !!!

22's forever, not trying to be rude. Yes, I know David Tubb and am fully aware of his titles, and politely put without technicians like him and a number of the bench rest shooters the equipment would never improve.
My comments were directed at Baby Huey, who while he is interested in the tweaking (good thing) he needs to learn some more of the basics so that he can understand the principals that apply in the techincal side of things. Some what like needing to do finger excerises in playing piano, accordian or guitar just to learn the basics before getting into the finer use of other things like the control of the accoridan bellows.

In that several of the Tubbs have shot silhouette in the past I would be surprised if there aren't some that use his polishing finish, as to how much it will gain a shooter that is not in the AAA or master level remains very questionable.

Dont worry Mary, they only make them in .224 caliber and up. Plus you have to make your own load to shoot the bullet down the barrel. Possibly a very good tool for the high power shooters though. :-bd

A friend of mine used it on his HP hunting rifle and it helped. It helps only if you have a rough bore.

I'm not worried Huey... just pointing out to you that once you have the basics down the fine tuning may or may not pick up points for you. Don't expect anything like the fine polishing finish like this to pick up 5 or more points in silhouette!!

If your rifle shoots under an inch at 100m forget all the extra products and just shoot. As Innocent said you aren't going to gain any points from doing so unless you have somehow managed to convince yourself that you actually shoot better because of what you have done to the rifle. Odds are you won't shoot a lick better afterwards.

Just like ammo cost ranges you are not going to shoot better with $15 a box ammo than you are with $2.50-5 a box ammo. But if you buy 4 or 5 cases of cheap ammo and practice 4-5 times more you will shoot much better than merely having expensive match ammo.

If your rifle shoots your ammo where it is aiming right now all you really need is more ammo and practice. If you really want to get more practice to improve your shooting you would be better served getting a nice air rifle to shoot at home with all the money you would have spent on after market products in the hopes of it making you a better shot.

Dee, never under-estimate the power of the brain. It can trick you into many things. x_x

It is available in a .22 LR. Midway has it !! It does work in center fire rifles very well, and yes it would be hand loads. But it's now available in .22 LR I was more looking for an average barrel user...not the high end stuff or high end manufacturers. That's all.

I have used it in both SB and HP rifles and worked for me on barrels that had lost accuracy. If you have a .22 factory barrels that is not shooting well you may want to check a few things before fire lapping the bore. Check crown, bedding, torque and clean really good to remove fouling and maybe lead. You may want to try fire lapping with J B bore cleaner like I have done it in the past with success on barrels that I had just about had given up hope on. Clean the barrel really good and then start shooting series of 5 shots with JB bore smeared on the lead, clean barrel well and shoot several groups to check your progress, you should be able to tell right away if the process is helping or not. I very seldom had to shoot more than 20 rounds with the JB bore to get results. Do not try this on your best barrels do it as a last resort kind of thing on barrels that are not smooth and accurate.
