I just purchased Adidas Feather II tennis shoe that some high end tennis players use. They have a firm inner sole, nice toe area and WIDE STIFF FLAT bottom sole for my 6 foot ht and 210 pound frame. They area really lite and the arch support is perfect. I am wearing them for the first time today and will be my every day shoe. They are very comfortable when you first put on and do require a little break in. I will be giving the shoes the real shooting test this Monday night when we have indoor practice. We will see if they will be better than my Nike Training:/Running shoes which are flexible in every way. I paid $75 with shipping on these Adidas, which is on discontinued list with $130 orig. price. If these work out, I will buy the new Feather CC II from Tennis Warehouse. Will see.

I believe in dead flat wide and stable. There is a reason Intl shooters wear those funny boots that are hard to walk in. However Silhouette has a "No competition clothing" rule. Always wear ankle high flat sole no heel boots. Latest ones are Georgia Boot Co. Not expensive but fit good, wide and stable.

Shooting offhand is all I use them for. See guys all the time wearing something bouncy or different every match. Consistency and stability is what you want, might as well start with the platform.

Our friend Mary would go barefoot on broken glass.

I shoot International pistol and use skate board shoes. Sketchers, available at Walmart. They're flat and stable.

I haven,t used them for SB silh because they'd get all muddy during the target reset. I wear a sporty hiking boot that has enough surface area for a stable stance.

If I shot indoors in a league, I too would wear the skate board shoes. Also, I would not wear them except for matches and practice.

New Balance Gortex hiking shoes. Not the trail runners.

I've shot a couple of matches wearing Crocs sandals. Talk about challenging! It's like standing on 2 balloons. I can't recommend them at all

I wore them to a "fun match" where any 22lr could shoot at smallbore cowboy setup. So a guy to my left is ripping off shots with a 10-22. I could feel empties hit my back. But when one got trapped in the Croc on the top of my foot, I started hopping around as I got blistered by the spent case.

I am happy to report that tonights indoor practice DID make a difference in my paper performance with these new shoes! I'm good.

Intl Air Rifle there are some rules on shoes, something to the effect of you have to be able to walk in them. Not sure exactly I wear my regular offhand boots. Was at a match last winter. Teenage girl was shuffling along in dead flat Anschutz boots. Coach pulled her aside and said watch out the officals will call walking funny.

Must be something to it if there is a rule against it.

I'd view calf highs as going against the NRA "supportive clothing" rule at my matches

I guess it up to interpritation for each club and understand where your getting at. As several other shooters at the club i belong to wear california logger model boots are almost as tall with a big heel on them wich seems to go against being a flat stable foot wear choice

I am a fan of cowboy boots myself.
