I see rifles that are painted. That makes me wonder if under the paint there is a bondo job that got the comb high enough. Did I figure out what is going on?

In some cases yes.

In other cases they are full custom carbon fiber stocks that are molded that shape.

Many a stock has been bondo'd into shape though.

Sacrilege! To paint wood is a sin!
The warmth! The beauty! The feel! The smell!
You deny your senses the pleasures of why you have them.

Plastic. Yuk!!!!!

Wood stocks are purdy but......................... they are heavy and they move.

I think most of the painted stocks are plastic.

Walnut and blue steel are beautiful, but synthetic and stainless are more practical. Dangit.
