Does anyone have a photo that shows a comparison of the Pharr RT stock with the factory 1712 stock? I would like to see the differences in demensions and measurements.

Hey John,
I think a few more of us would like to seen that comparison. You could post it here for all our benefit. I mean, is that all the consideration I get for spotting you into a class victory at Tennessee last year? :)) :))

May be G.o.W. will post what you sent him?? :D :D

The Phar, and Wooster stocks have a flat forend to ride the bags while sighting in, larger palm swell for better grip, and better cheek support with the high comb. Other than that there isn't much difference. :-bd

For what my opinion matters, this photo shows the most critical areas of comparison in that the drop at the comb, drop at toe, radius of the grip, and the relative stock thickness forward of the triggerguard are shown here.
John, you are most welcome. PM sent.

Thats the picture that helped me the most. Thanks for posting it Boyd, and thanks to JDP for the pictures.

I think the biggest difference between the two (for me anyway) would be the lower comb on the 1712 stock. Its just a shame that the Pharr stocks are harder to find than that Malaysian jet.

IMO there are a lot of other things than the lower comb that make them different. The pics just don't show how much meatier the forearm is on the Pharr. It just fills the hand better and the palm swell on the pistol grip that just gives it that feel. And the cheek piece is thicker as well for a great cheek weld. I have one on a 1712 and another on my HP Rem 700. Just something about the way they hold and fill the hands that makes me feel more solid in position. For a sporter styled stock it is the best I have found. Never been around Wooster stocks but I hear great things about them as well. I wish you luck finding one :ympray:

I have the Wooster and he calls it the Pharr type stock. So I'm not sure if he has the exact same mold or just models his closely after Marks. And I agree on all counts so far. The forearm is meatier and the cheek weld is easier. But also the grip is a little closer to the trigger guard. Not a huge deal with the trigger being adjustable, but still its there.

I have a Pharr stocked 1712, so I know all about it. I was actually wanting to know more about the factory 1712 stock. I've not held one in a long while and I am thinking about the McMillan version for another project. Now I just wonder of my barrel will be to wide for the stock.

Ghostofwar,
Did you go with the McMillan stock for your next project?
