Has anyone ever had a problem with an Anschutz 1712 where the last round won't feed from a magazine? Just one of the three mags I have decided to not feed me the last round this weekend. I can't really see any difference from the bad one to the good ones. Any ideas on what could cause it and how to fix it?

The good news is that their is no ejection problem with my 1712. Every shell popped right out. Even though I only had time to fire 100 rounds or so, I'm thinking the malfunctions I had earlier might have just been the rifle needing a little breaking in.

Sounds like the lips on the mag need some minor adjustment.

I considered that Jerry. What would happen if i bent them up too much? Could I damage the bolt?

Hey old ranger. I think I know what the issue is as I had the same problem with my 54-18 after I re stocked it. If we manage to hook up on Friday before the CBC I can see if it's the same issue. If so a few seconds of some light file work and you will be good to go.

Thanks for the offer bigfoot but I think I fixed it. When I used the caliper the feed lip for the bad mag was slightly lower than the 2 good ones (as Jerry G thought it might), so I bent it up a hair. Then bent it back down, then back up. Anyways I shot it yesterday with no more problems. I'll keep it marked so I can tell it apart, but I think it might be fixed,

Wisner mags for the savage are probably less headaches than the Anschutz OEMs.

I have had much better luck with these as well. Whole lots cheaper too! The stops on the back of the mag., at the top, have to be modified some. Couple minutes with a file. Easy fix. Mags are of good quality. I have several I have been using for years with 0 issues.

The Wisner magazines are heavier gauge steel than the Anschutz for a fraction of the cost. Evelio sold a batch of these already modified to fit the 1712 - dunno if he's still doing it or not, but they worked perfectly.
