On behalf of my nephew, I would like to thank all the members of this great forum for all the help and advice provided to us over the past month. It has certainly made my transition form pistol/ handgun shooting to silhouette shooting as smoothly as could be expected. Above all my nephew is really enjoying his new CZ 455 American. Unfortunately, I might of created a little monster or rimfire whore greater than our member Merlin. My nephew now wants a Sako Hunter Quad, Anschutz 1712, Ruger 77, Remington 700 SPS in 7mm-08 ( like his uncle ) and a 1911 in .45 acp. He told my sister that you can't have too many guns because each one serves a specific function. Can't have too many? Sounds like my sister justifying the number of shoes and pocket books that she owns. Again thank you everyone for your help.

Exactly! They are tools... Have you ever seen a mechanic with just one socket or wrench in his (or her) toolbox?

My sister takes exception to his back talk and his attempts to get the last word in. Also, she doesn't like having her own words thrown back in her face. It doesn't help much when I throw fuel on the fire. What are uncles to do?

This sounds like the Midway commercial. "How many guns do you need? At least one more..."

In all fairness to my sister, how many "toys" do we buy that wind up collecting dust? They are fun in the beginning then we are on to something else. I really think my nephew likes shooting, but he is like a kid in a candy store when he visits the gun shop. He wants them all. I can't blame him since I still feel that way when I visit certain stores.

I look at all the expensive stuff and remember that practicing with my budget rig will get me closer to the goal while I learn. (and save)

And I get my sister (she shoots better than me--in'tl level Benchrest) to buy my son his rifles.

Well my nephew is having the same problem as the rest of us. My sister is finding it difficult to purchase .22lr ammo for him. She can't even get the good stuff like Eley and Lapua. Some ranges near me will only sell ammo for range use only. If my nephew sticks with smallbore silhouette shooting I will purchase him an Anschutz. Hell, I might even give him mine and I will buy a new 1712.
