I have seen friction tape used on some rifles during big matches. I assume this is legal although the rules seem to be a little fuzzy. Does anyone know where you can purchase some like comes on Anschutz target rifles?It sure would help in the grip area because of the lube on the match bullets.

I know of no rule against tape. Try your local Skateboard shop. Deck tape, have used it on pistol grips successfully.

I guess it would depend on whether the tape is considered an "attachment" in hunter class? For nitpickers, it does attach to the stock, via adhesion.

Dimpling/checkering the stock can add grip, and isn't doing so by attaching anything, but I can see where some may be hesitant to hack away at their prized rifle.

That may be a little hard to do on a plastic stock. Lots of people use a towel to wipe their hands after touching well lubed bullets.

Your best bet is to paint the surfaces you want with rubberized textured paint. A spray can, some newspaper, masking tape and a sheet of 320 grit sandpaper to prep the surfaces is all you need.

I like my shiny, slick stock. I wipe my lube covered fingers on my pants before I go to the line.

I like to wipe my lube covered hands on my shiny slick stock so I have an excuse when I miss.

All this talk of wiping lube is getting me all frisky feeling. Cut it out guys!

3M makes a anti-slip tape which has a rubber texture, which IMO would work well. I have found some at the local Ace hardware store. It comes in 2", and 4" wide rolls and sold by the ft. I believe it only comes in either black or gray. Anyway, hope that helps.

That's out then, if there's no ecru colored tape to match my pantaloons. Not going to be on the line without being color coordinated like BR shooters.

I got a package from brownells i think, several years ago... 1" strips 40grit...little rough but with sweat and arthritic hands it sure helps the hold.

Ger 8 mags and load them all before the match. Then find someone with a suede vest and slap them on the shoulder

You could stiple the stock with a soldering iron. Just grind the tip down to a fine point. Would also recommend some practice some scrap plastic first. Or just YouTube it and go for it like I did.
