Dressed up old rifle

Just out of interest to see if anyone else has done something similar.
I have an old Australian made Lithgow Model 12 rifle that was laying around gathering dust in the rifle safe. these rifles have a reputation for accuracy (based on the fact that the barrels were made from the left over barrels from WW II initially destined to male the 303 SMLE rifles). This rifle was in very good condition and hardly ever fired so I thought it would be a good project to "modernise" the rifle for the kids to use at the range. Long story short I ordered an un-inletted Boyds Blaster stock, carried out the inletting and fitted scope mounts and a scope - the end result is below. I have just finished epoxy and pillar bedding the action and should be taking it out for a shot this week. The gunsmith who fitted the scope rail said " you will have trouble shooting a group bigger than 1/2 inch" - based on the reputation of the rifle - I should find out soon.
Anyway, the question here is has anyone else done something similar and what have been your results - was the effort worth it?
