Reloading manual recipes are also for unobtanium powders, so keep searching and hope that someone with more loading experience steps up with some suggestions.

Varget is great propellant, when available as you know. There are others that will serve you well in that burn range. Here in CO they are gradually showing up on dealers shelves. Don't rely on others recipes, get to the range and experiment on your own. Good replacements for Varget are IMR4895...H4895...IMR4064...VV135...VV140...RL15. Check this website for complete data on the .260 Rem.

IMR 4064 start around 36 grains for 107 to 142. This worked great for me before varget showed up. Still works great and most of the time just a bit better. Could also try IMR 4320 around the same charge.

What Bob said is good advice. Follow the manuals you have and any medium burn rate powder shoots well in the .260 thankfully.

100 rounds of freshly minted 7-08 practice ammo. Winchester cases fired 11 times each, 40.0 grs. IMR 4064, 140 gr. Sierra pro hunter reject bullets. I recently scored three 8 lb. cans of IMR 4064 for practice ammo. I will save my stash of Varget for match ammo used in matches only. This was my go to 7-08 propellant before Varget hit the states in 1994.
