I thought I was all done asking questions about a new scope that I want to buy. However, as it turns out, this isn't the case. Following is some information about the scope I want to buy: Leupold FX-3 25x40mm AO Sil Mte 1/2 LDot Manufacturer Number: 66850. My question is, What is an LDot and is it legal for Smallbore rifle silhouette in the standard rifle division? Sorry for all the questions but I just don't want to make any mistakes like buy an expensive scope that I can't use in competitive smallbore rifle silhouette matches. I need some guidance here. Thanks.

The Ldot is the Leupold Dot which is what Leupold calls some of its dot reticles. It is perfectly legal for silhouette (as is any reticle) and the scope you are referring to is very popular with silhouette shooters.

I have a couple of them in 3/8ths dot . More specifically, the Leupold dot has a noticeable tapered wire leading to the center dot. Other Leupold dot reticules have a fine non tapered wire leading to a small dot.
