Silhouette Scope Recommendation

Good day all,

Looking for a scope for my newly acquired Anschutz 1416.

I had decided to go with a Sightron SII Big Sky 6-24x42 AO w/Silh reticle but unfortunately it is no longer available.

The Leupold FX3 25x Sil 25x40 appears to be the popular choice, but the current exchange rate and tax-me I'm Canadian surcharge puts it beyond my $1000 budget.

Any other recommendations?

Thanks
A

There are still places with the Sightron in stock.

You might also try to buy the scope off the rifle from a fellow Canadian here.

Alternatively, there's always the Leupold VX2 6-18x40 AO, either the CDR model or the Target Turrets. Dunno what those cost with the Canadian surcharge, though.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I think anything out of the US is a no go for me due to export restrictions

Will have to take a closer look at the VX-2

I currently use a Leupold FX-3 in a 12x40 with target turrets and a AO.

It works very well for me but I would go with the VX-2 in 6-18x40 if I was to do it again.

I live in Ontario. The price for Luepold scopes are about twice the price here than in the US. Hirsch Precision from Nova Scotia sells Sightron scopes. I have bought from him before, He is a great person to do business with. He imports from Japan. The price from him is about the same as in the US.

That's too bad since Leupold can offer more flexibility with reticles. On the upside, Big Sky Sightron's have great glass.

I have a Leopold Vari-X III 6.5-20 x 40mm, boosted, with target knobs & 1/4 moa dot that I'd let go for $750 US.
