Today 5000 pellets good enough to shoot silhouette costs more than a 5000 round case of good 22 LR did when we started silhouette.
For what they are; pellets have increased dramatically in price. Then there are the scuba tanks and trips to the scuba shop for air.
How can we expect the average working family with kids to start this sport with no ammo availability and extreme prices?
If we were looking at getting into this sport today, it would be a "No" simply because of the cost.
We are also looking for another hobby that is not affected by politics this much.

Another thing to consider is the NRA filing chapter 11 bankruptcy. Now may be the ideal time for the NRA to become a 2nd amendment lobby group and only a 2nd amendment lobby group.

They could easily close dow the competition department. If I understand it correctly the NRA has already fired most of the staff in the competition department because of the COVID19 pandemic. Very easy to just fold it up completely as part of a bankruptcy reorganization.

I would expect that the action shooting sports would find a new home since they are so popular, a manufacturer may even buy it from the NRA. The more traditional shooting sports like bulleyes competition, prone, 3 and 4 position shooters would gravitate to the CMP competitions.

I think Silhoutte may actually die in this country if the NRA does decide to close down the competition department.

I would guess it will probably come down to the idea that if a department is not profitable then it will be reorganized into oblivion.

I hope to be wrong and we will see as the bankruptcy progresses.

If our sanctioning body ceases to exist, that void of having no sanctioning body could possibly be the best thing to ever happen to silhouette. Many times a void has to exist before something better can come along.

I hope that you are right. I am looking forward to more information concerning the chapter 11 bankruptcy and what the reorganization plan turns out to be.

You could probably buy a pretty nice boat if you sold all your guns.

Nobody wants this hobby to be affected by the panics which are caused by the politics.
The shooting sports seem to be hurt more than any other sport by government regulations. There should be only one gun law and that is 2A. Any misuse of guns, ammo, components or explosives are covered by other laws. Any gun law violates the second amendment. In the future our little harmless, gentle sport could be destroyed by government regulations.
