This is a great letter, and like so many other great letters no of them ever see the presidents desk or hands. They get read by some assistant to the assistant of some assistant secratary to the secratary of some body thats gettin paid way to much to do what they do.

And you'll never see it on the evening news or them asking our politicians the tough questions on it....

It's just like that one letter that asked why are there no drug test for those receiving Welfare because the writer has to take one every year for his job in order to keep it, and asks why not the same for Welfare.

If Washington passed these common sense laws we'd help eliminate the drug problem and get people looking to improve themselves Vs the sitting back looking for a hand out from those that are working and trying to make a living for themselves and their families.

But then that would also mean the Democraps would lose voters they get for their social open purse policies.

Don't even get me started on being on Welfare and having 12 kids....

2 years ago my wife and I were riding our atv's. She hit a log too fast, went over the handlebars and cut her bottom lip clean through about 2 inches. Luckily lost no teeth. Sped to the emergency room bleeding like a stuck hog, all the while figuring to be at the hospital about an hour getting 6-8 stitches. Walked in to a room full of people with what appeared to be colds, runny noses, coughing, etc. No one in the room was bleeding or had any broken bones. I rushed to the desk only to be informed of about a 3 hour wait. Now I am starting to wonder. It is first come first serve in the ER except for something life threatening. I am OK with that. Here is the problem as I understand it: Medicaid pays for an ER visit of course, so there is a room full that could have gone to any family doctor for their troubles, yet are holding up a line in front of people bleeding profusely from their head. The wait turned into about 6 hours. I want you all to Imagine sitting with your spouse for 6 hours with a wound that will not stop bleeding waiting for a doctor to fix someones runny nose. Later I learned that this is common in an ER waiting room. Had I known what was waiting at the hospital, I would have made her down a pint of bourbon and sewed her up my damn self. On top of all the agony of waiting is the realization that I was also paying for the ones in front of me. I personally know one of our Senators, and the sun didn't set the next day before he heard from me. Probably went in one ear and out the other. I pray that things like this will come to a head, but my attitude on reform is beyond bad these days.

I know several nurses, a few of whom are ER nurses. Two of them have quit from hospitals because they took the job in the ER to help people who really needed help but ended up dealing with people with bad attitudes who only went to the ER so they wouldn't have to pay. One of them actually found a hospital that turned down all federal money just so that they wouldn't have to treat ER patients that didn't actually have issues that were emergencies. Surprisingly, that hospital isn't having all that much trouble getting by without the federal money.

It's not just medical...try working in the grocery industry and dealing with all the EBT's etc. The attitdues are no different and the flashy vices and "new" cars are there as well.

Living in Dade county has got to be one of the worst places for that kind of abuse. I am sure that just about every border state and large city with a large population of degenerates also has this issue. I get pissed off too folks when I shop and I have to pay my bucks only to see those gold tooth top and bottom grills that look like a caddalac and drive range rovers, bmw's escalades with big 24 inch rims expensive clothes pay with a ebt card while they drag thier 7 hood rat kid..jitter bugs around.

I`m a nurse and work in level 1 trauma hospital (Erlanger) here in chattanooga, TN. If the general public really had a true sense of the crap that goes on with people coming to the ER for runny noses, coughs, out of pain medicine (because they took them all in 10 days with a 30 day prescription and the PCP will not write for a new script), drunk, and high on god knows what drugs. I`ll stop before I write for hours on the crap I see everyday. I`ll just say most of the problem with health care is with society and the lack of values and personal responsibility.

It's all true. So is the need for health care reform.

At a personal level, with my health and family history there is no hope of finding coverage if I lose my job or want to start working for a small company without coverage. Not because I've abused the system, but in some cases because I worked too hard or did the right thing and managed to get hurt. Shit happens.

At my wife's church, they couldn't afford insurance coverage for most of their employees even before the economy took a bite from giving. More than one parishioner has been bankrupted by illness, personal or family, and others have died early because they postponed or were denied care. Again, these are hard working folks in tough situations, and it's hard to blame them or anyone else for their situation. Shit happens.

Are there abuses to address? Absolutely. Will any changes to the system have new loopholes and abuses? Definitely. Troops in the field need the latitude to "monitor and adjust", and the policy wonks need the humility to tweak their work for improvements, but something has to be done.

Corporations have bought our government and a lot of us - corporate profits are not our concern and they should not be the concern of our government. Why have we allowed it to come to this?
