You're right - that was very unlike MSNBC. Otherwise, are supposed to be surprised? When this first hit fan in '08 my reaction to credit default swaps was "They did what?!" but after that it got old hat. My only question is, why isn't somebody in jail? Or hung in a basement?

Becasue the Democrats need all the votes they can get

Thats also why the illegal issue is next on the aggenda, gotta buy them votes.

I'm thinking the bankers are likely republicans, but maybe not. And the illegal issue is another tough nut to crack, and even a lot (maybe a majority) of democrats will call bullshit on some of the proposals, so I'll be stunned if much happens. Toss in more partisan bickering and the electorate will tell 'em all to shut the f*** up.
